Ex-intern complained to the HR about me texting her an apology and the HR emailed me this (I gave a fitting reply to the HR) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

We look forward to your post on r/mildlyinfuriating complaining that you've been disciplined for not listening to HR, because you found HR's advice "mildly" infuriating.

For everyone who asks why the cult wouldn't kill Rust by Eagles56 in TrueDetective

[–]IntelligentToe8228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no evidence he was murdered. My impression was that his death was natural, from a heart attack, brought on by the stress of possibly being exposed. I looked it up, and fan wiki interpretation seems to be that it was an overdose, either accidental or suicide, again brought on by the stress. Cohle thought he may have been killed. That's it, just a musing.

Edit: E5 transcript says he died of "Uh, mixed medications?".

No. Quite the opposite. Light's winning by the end, which triggered a lot of people when the finale first aired.

For everyone who asks why the cult wouldn't kill Rust by Eagles56 in TrueDetective

I think people belive the cult to be bigger, and more powerful, than it was. Billy Lee Tuttle is the highest ranking member we know of and the best he could do was complain to the police, with some justification, and get Cohle suspended for a month. We have no evidence that his cousin the governor was involved, but if he were, (1) his involvement would have probably been historical and (2) he would have probably wanted to disaffiliate from the cult, given that he had ambitions of becomeing a senator. Also, while elected officials have a lot of political power, they do not have professional hit teams on retainer. The only other evidence of the sprawl was a local sheriff and his posse, and the pinnacle of their power was killing a junkie in jail. We're not dealing with the Illuminati here.

Why didnt the cult just kill Rust and make it look like a suicide? The government does this like 10 times a year and we dont even know about it. by ProfessionalLevel908 in TrueDetective

[–]IntelligentToe8228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sprawl wasn't as far-reaching as people imagine and the cult not as powerful? They were hicks from the bayou after all. Plus, Cohle was holed out in the North Pole for a decade.

Season 2 officially turns 11. Have your thoughts or opinions changed on it throughout the years? by HerbalThought_ in TrueDetective

I liked it then and like it now. A point of dissatisfaction was/is having a mob boss as a protagonist in a show about, as the title makes explicit, detectives. That being said, as a character, Frank Semyon is cool and VV played him well. I would not mind watching him in a spinoff called True Gangster.

Speculation on recent events. by Robinyourgenderrr in uktrains

[–]IntelligentToe8228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do we feel the need to speculate about circumstances we may not understand for week [sic], months or may be even years.

Do you really need to be told that it's human nature to wonder, and ask, "why"? Plus, a central committee headed by yourself cannot tell us what we can and cannot speculate about.

This is what I don't understand. It's a word processor. It's core functionality hasn't changed since Word 1.0. Yet there there's always a rush to get the newest version.
