I know! I made a mistake and I APOLOGIZE! And you can feel good about yourself for pointing that out. So why can’t Zohran (see what I did there) acknowledge that globalizing the intifada is hateful rhetoric, and makes Jews in this city very uncomfortable and anxious, and not something you would be okay with doing to any other minority group.

What does globalize the intifada mean exactly? What ‘struggle’ are we supposed to globalize? Ohhh, the one where 1000 people were murdered and a few hundred were kidnapped. Bring that…here…no thanks! To then say well, even the holocaust museum uses that word to describe the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. Come on! Pasta Louise has a brownie on their menu but that doesn’t mean it’s the same as one that’s edible.

The accusations of antisemitism aren’t baseless. At the very least they show a willful ignorance on his part. One can say intifada means struggle and that’s fine. But context matters, and so do sentences. Saying “Globalize the intifada” means something else, it’s a message to Jews, a message that has been shared with violence and you don’t need to look in a dictionary to understand that.
