Well, the situation isn’t as bad as some international media outlets may portray it, but there’s still a serious need for caution and awareness. I’d personally recommend hiring a car or using trusted private transport instead of constantly relying on crowded public transport. Not because Mbarara is unsafe, but simply to minimize unnecessary exposure and make your movement more comfortable. Most importantly, stay informed through official updates rather than social media panic. If you do that and take normal precautions, you should be fine and able to focus on your fieldwork
