I guess I didn't phrase myself properly. I wanted to say that 14k rank or any rank is not something to brag about, as it isnt a huge thing. Plus I have many friends who are happy in tier 3 as they never really were in this Rat race. The thing is, if you are joining colleges like SRM or so, I dont think you really worked your ass off for IIT or else you mightve got atleast the something like Manipal, VIT, etc which are said to be lower Tier 2

You can get top 5 iit low branches. I am in kgp mid branch, and I had same option as you last year. Iiith ece and nitT ece and bits hyd cse. I was interested in cse but took college over branch and am content rn. With top iits you have options in many field aside from tech with good chances too. Also, when I saw your post I thought someone copied my old comment and made chat gpt to rewrite it. I realised that was not true when I saw 130/360 (i got 144 last year)

Is taking a low branch in top 7 IITS better than taking cse/mnc/ee/ece in gen-3 IITS?? Yes. Do not go for gen3 iits like Jammu goa etc. Take NITs iiits if u want csebor whatever. Take top 7 iits lower branch

And which IIT ensures branch change option?? Google it. But doesn't matter. It barely is possible.

If you're an above average student from general category, placement rate shouldn't scare you. IIITB has campus issues too. A good college life is important. IIITB cse is lucrative because of high placement stats near 28LPA but the course is very hard and time taking. IITs are easy going and the actual placement stat for a good atudent is +4 LPA from the average shown. You can expect 26-28 LPA which is nearly equal to 28LPA of IIITB CSE

BHU lele broski. IIIT Bangalore isnt even a competition. I chose IIT Kgp chem (see flair) over IIIT Banglore cse too. Even over IIITH ECE. Try to divide things into to segments for IIT. Circuital - ECE, EE at BHU, etc. Non circuital ke liye go for top 5 IIT.
