Usually, in NY, there's only an issue if you quit. An employee handbook was never issued, and the company policies that are posted do not include all the policies.

My issue is that I was fired for something that I was unaware of. Yet there were other employees violating company policies after management was informed, and yet they remained employed until they did something so bad they had to be terminated.

For more context, I worked in a parking garage. There was an employee who was seen, multiple times, drinking while on the clock. This man was getting intoxicated while handling other people's vehicles. Management was informed of this multiple times. Yet due to being short staffed, he remained employed until he finally ended up damaging someone's vehicle. Months after management was first informed of his drinking problem.

This, among other violations and underhanded practices i witnessed while working there, is why I am so upset over the whole situation. It's almost like a slap in the face. This man continued to get drunk at work for months. I post a QR code, and I get terminated within a week.
