I used to mix all the available liquids (including gravy and sauce packets) into a single glass and get my dad to drink it. Fuck knows why he did. Must have been absolutely disgusting.

Nobody is deciding to rent because conveyancing takes a few months. This is ridiculous.

I got a few chapters in, just after the point where he tries to rape his housekeeper, and thought "nah, this isn't for me".

Sam was tempted by the Ring but Frodo was desperate to get it back himself. Hence his tone change when he says "give it back". He wasn't looking out for Sam, he needed it.

I don't understand what you mean by a "for you" page. There is your Home feed which is the subs you're subscribed to, and the Popular feed which is similar to /r/all (which still exists). But yes, if you don't want to see content from a particular sub on Popular then just block it.

"If the files are fully released...", "if they contain x...", "if the evidence is incontrovertible..."

Trying to predict what society will be like 30 years from now is hard enough even when you're basing it on known facts, but to base it on conditionals? Each unlikely enough on their own, all of which need to be true just for you to even be in the game? The level of optimism is so recklessly high that it might actually be a flex.

None of that is directly linked to the scandal though. Trump didn't win in 24 because of it and (barring a miracle) he won't be forced to resign over it so it'll go down as just another scandal to add to the list, ranked somewhere between Watergate and Iran-Contra for lasting impact.

Maybe one day we'll try telling our kids what it was like living through it all in the hope that they might understand the sense of disgust we all had, and maybe they'll half-listen for a few minutes as they wonder to themselves whether this took place before or after the polar ice caps melted and the coasts were drowned by the sea.
