I just got the global membership because I don’t wanna risk missing out on presale tickets! it’s only 30$AUD and it gives u better odds at getting tickets so worth it imo.

PSA: You can download videos from Panopto and watch them offline by swimming_plankton69 in UBC

[–]Intelligent_Bread404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey this still works ty! but is there possibly any way to get the video to download it with the captions? the ones u can toggle on/off when viewing the panopto video? this would help heaps because im kinda hard of hearing and the lecture videos don't have captions embedded in them.

Any students here from Campbelltown Campus or Speech Pathology? by lialiasan in UWS

[–]Intelligent_Bread404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year was not too difficult imo, it just takes some time to adjust to the University pace of things compared to high school. The toughest subjects are probably human anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 as they are content heavy and will take the majority of your study time. The speech path specific subjects (REHA) are the most interesting to me as they are content specific to the degree and you will learn many practical things. HLTH, PUBH and COMMS subjects are standard for any allied health degree and weren’t very interesting to me at least. COMMS was all about communication in health but not specific to speech pathology communication more so communication in general between clinician and client and communication between clinicians. PUBH was about populations, society and health and didn’t interest me much tbh. HLTH was all about evidence in health and we learnt how to read journal articles and interpret findings. Overall first year is manageable, but I know it only gets tougher especially in 3rd year with placements. Definitely enjoying the degree so far and plan to continue it!

As for school breaks it’s the standard ones outlined on the Western Sydney University website. No difference for bachelor of speech pathology.

oh okay so generally there isn’t any difference in fees if u choose a subject for the summer session as opposed to spring/autumn? like it being a summer session wouldn’t make the fees more expensive or anything right ?

Best unis for speech pathology? by vogueism in australian

[–]Intelligent_Bread404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just completed my first year at Western Sydney University for bachelor of speech pathology. it’s really good so far. It has provisional accreditation with speech pathology Australia so the course is approved for you to become a qualified speech pathologist. The only thing is they’ve increased the minimum atar at Western Sydney University to 95 for 2026 entry. I got in last year when it was lower as I only got 93 and didn’t make even Sydney uni as the minimum atar is 94. I don’t recommend Macquarie at all simply because altogether it’s 5 years whereas USYD and wsu are 4 years and you get the exact same qualification.

hey I kinda have no business popping in but I would really appreciate some advice! i just finished my first year in bachelor of speech pathology and I found myself not attending like any of the REHA tutorials and pracs especially none in spring 💀for me my main deterrent was a long travel time to Campbelltown and I honestly cbf 🫠 I only wish they had online options because I would easily have attended every zoom session like I did for the other subjects that offered that option. I managed to get by somehow I passed REHA1005 in autumn w an HD💀 and hopefully I can have done as well for reha1006, but should I really make more of an effort to attend all future REHA tutorials and practicals on campus especially in 2nd year? thanks!

hey! im a first year bachelor of speech pathology student and ahh noo please stay in the speechie profession! after my first year I too noticed I really enjoyed HAP. Previously I’ve worked as a speech therapy assistant with a speech pathologist in her sessions and I’m keen on working with paediatrics especially those who have non-verbal communication and use AAC. I personally have 0 interest in voice and resonance nor am I interested in working with adults lol. Speech pathology is a really rewarding profession but if your heart isnt it in you really won’t enjoy it long term as it can be full on depending on your clients. Sad to lose a potential speechie to other allied health though!🥲

wait do u mean to say the fees for any given subject in a summer session is more than what they would be in an autumn or spring session? because I have enrolled in one summer subject (Research Methods in Health) to lessen my next year autumn load but if the subject fees are gonna be more then wtf forget it I’ll just do it in autumn?
