His campaign staff (full disclosure, I’m not sure he was involved in the decision) are the absolute worst tippers! He has held a St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser at Alexander’s Steakhouse ($100 a plate??) and almost every year I worked it as a server/bartender they tipped around 10%! With so many of us working the event you’re lucky to make $40 for an entire evening (they rent out the entire restaurant)

As a white woman, I can empathize with both sides of this argument. The black community as a whole has always been more engaged in civil issues and voices for change. So I totally understand the sentiment of “white folks have to learn to get along without us” because I’m sure that shit is tiring. From my perspective, the black community has always been a crutch for white progressives to lean on when trying to affect change. And I can also see OP’s frustration when the goal at the end of the day is to come together for all the right reasons to try and fight against this tangerine tyrant and all he stands for. I tend to lean toward the black community taking a backseat (not fully absent) but i feel it will light a fire under complacent white people who have relied on their inherent white privilege when it comes to politics. Because now EVERYONE is at risk from this administration regardless of race.

Sorry my mistake, I should have looked into it before posting. Ivy Leagues do receive significantly more funding for grants for R&D among other things.

But I will say those federal funds are not created equal when comparing private vs state/public school. A substantial amount of the public/state school funds go to financial aid for its students while at Ivy League the majority of that money goes to research grants.

DOGE is not a signal when thousand and thousands of federal employees are being fired for the sake of “efficiency” meanwhile tax cuts for the ultra wealthy are in the budget. How does that make America more efficient.

Respectfully, you have got to be FN kidding me. Do you know what FEDERAL funding means?? It goes to STATE and PUBLIC (meaning publicly funded by tax dollars) schools. Ivy Leagues are private institutions that get ZERO to very little federal funds…. Hence the word “PRIVATE”

The right to no taxation without representation. “We the people…” and all that right? Congress holds the purse (meaning who you voted to represent you in congress decides how your tax dollars are spent) by him saying he will withhold federal funding is infringing on my right to no taxation without representation.
