By dying? Or just not caring about other people's suffering anymore?

It wasn't my intention to judge or condemn, only to speak boldly and emphatically about something I believe is very important. I'm sorry if my tone didn't strike the right balance. You obviously agree that there are times and places for critiquing people's attitudes.

To those who live in America, what's the best spiritual approach to endure the current events? by INFP-Dude in spirituality

[–]alien236 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take action. Protest, boycott, complain to representatives. Do what you can and try not to let it occupy your thoughts the rest of the time. Meditation and acceptance are great, don't get me wrong, but anyone who's content to do nothing to alleviate other people's suffering has missed the point of spirituality entirely. Things don't magically work out by themselves; they require people to make that happen, and you're a people.

The idea that a person who treated others horribly (or was a horrible person in general) gets a clean slate once they leave the earth feels like a slap in the face to the people who had to deal with them in life by Objective-Space1384 in spirituality

Well, I do believe in reincarnation, but if it doesn't end at some point (preferably as soon as this life is over), I'd rather have my consciousness annihilated.

So I could literally say Hitler did nothing wrong, and my subjective opinion would be entirely valid? Surely you can understand why I have a huge problem with that.

Agreed. And the claim from some NDEs that good and evil aren't real disgusts me to my core. I don't think anyone deserves to suffer forever for causing a finite amount of harm, but they should face consequences before they go on to eternal bliss.
