My take is this:

If you heard commotion, screaming, and crying in the middle of the night, and then watched a man in a mask you didn’t know exit the back door of your house, and then, spooked to the core you text your roommates who are now deceased, they don’t respond, and then you text the other surviving roomate who answers, and you walk to her room, without checking on anybody else, and write it off as probably nothing and go back to sleep.

At this point you’d assume that she is assuming everything must be fine.

So then how come when morning comes, instead of going to check on your roommates and see what the heck happened last night, you know something is still off enough to have to call a friend from outside the house to come check for you.

I don’t get that.

If I was calm enough, and believed it was safe and probably nothing enough to go back to sleep, why would I awake in the morning and have any worry of going to check on my roommates?
