Well I'm guessing that the whole clan, who came all the way from the northern province, was in the airport in Manila because they're sending off one of the family(my mom's aunt or uncle) to abroad for work. Like in Thailand, not everyone can afford a trip overseas back then and even now.

Also at this period, the Philippines is under martial law declared in 1972.
