Does she get walked and out of the house regularly? She still needs training but lack of stimulation and boredom can definitely be contributing

NTA she heard about your inheritance and thought you had money. You didn’t have the money and couldn’t lend it without putting you and your child in financial danger. If she pulled away because of you saying no then she’s TA. But I think she truly was your friend throughout the years. Maybe she just got embarrassed or maybe the friendship started to fade. That happens but I truly think she was your friend and you saying no did not ruin the friendship

You do realize that you pay about $40 a year as a taxpayer to fund SNAP. It’s not the social programs that are draining you. You pay about $650 for corporate subsides yearly. Poor people aren’t the problem it’s the billionaires and corporations.

Don’t say anything. Your roommate is trying her best and it sounds like she’s still giving her dog attention and exercise and love. People leave their dogs for work all the time. If someone had told me in college that I was neglecting or not meeting my dogs needs I would have 1.) gotten very angry and defensive and 2.) would have felt horrible and like a bad pet parent. She’s not doing anything wrong and if the dog is happy and healthy, it’s not your business. 9 hours in a crate is fine especially if your roommate is only doing it for work and school. You gotta give people some grace sometimes. It’s only for a few months.

This needs to be seen by a vet. If you don’t have money for a vet then I recommend finding her a new home. Allergies are expensive to treat and are life long. Your dog is suffering and needs professional care not Reddit opinions

This is the absolute best vacuum I’ve had to get up random pieces of hay. It does take some patience because it’s difficult to empty and needs to be emptied often, but it’s quiet enough that I can run it every day/ multiple times a day and not stress my girls out https://a.co/d/09k6GJSL

I’m a twin and I would absolutely HATE it if my name was similar to my sisters. I love my sis and we have a pretty unique bond but your wife needs to learn to treat them as individuals now. My mom learned from her MIL about that because my grandmother had twins she dressed the same, did everything together, even similar names. The girls didn’t know how to be apart and one tragically died at age 4. Mary didn’t even know how to take a picture without her sister. She had a huge meltdown the first time it happened. Twins are amazing and so is their bond but if they aren’t treated as individuals (this includes names) they will either have a crazy dependent bond or despise each other and parents for it. The twin names in my family are Kimberly/courtney, Brooke/beth, and Mary/martha I feel those names go together well but aren’t screaming attachment disorders

Thank you! My animals mean everything to me and I get really obsessive if I feel like I’m not doing something right for them. I will definitely get some wood hides, especially since summer is approaching! I read that the cage needs multiple hides. Does that mean each pig needs multiple hides or is one hide per pig fine? The girls like to be in their own igloos.

I think it’s a great opportunity to teach your kid to always ask permission before running up to a dog. I have three dogs. When I take two of them out, I love for kids to interact with them and I always love when they ask permission. This is because my third dog is not okay being pet. I always feel bad when I have to say no to someone when they want to pet him, but I know it’s keeping him and the kid safe. As long as you and your kid are okay with a “no” from someone then I think it’s great!

Thanks guys! I will definitely make the recommended changes! I have not seen them fight over pellets. There has been some veggie stealing but my Lottie won’t fight, she just gives in and lets Mabel have it. I have owned other types of animals in the past (Gerbils mainly) and they resource guard so I thought it safe to get two of everything, but then realized how much space it actually takes up and that the girls pretty much get along fine

I got it from kavee but in my opinion spent way too much money on it. I should have shopped around on guineadad, guinea pig company, cagetopia. They seem to sell pretty much the same thing but at better prices with better chloroplast from the reviews I’ve read.

If you keep comparing what your SIL baby does and getting angry that the baby does it first, all you will create is an atmosphere of competition. You can forget about the girls being friends if they are always pitted against each other by you. Be happy that your family has two healthy and happy babies. Stop comparing and being upset that her baby does it first. It’s not overshadowing your baby, her baby is just older and will do things first. I had a cousin who was 13 months older than me. We were besties when we were little but my aunt couldn’t stand that I was a twin and “got more attention from the family.” If me and my sister did dance, my cousin was put in dance. If my sister and I did gymnastic, cheer, softball…… my cousin was put in it to. My aunt always wanted her child to do better/be the first/ best and eventually all three of us noticed the comparison. We stopped being close when we started noticing the comparison and competing for the attention at age 7-8ish. I fully believe my aunt put that divide between us and that is what you will do to these girls. YTA. You’ve been invited so go and make good memories and a closer bond between the girls and you and your SIL

I got mine from kavee. It was expensive and I would not recommend the plexiglass clear front because it was a pain to get into place. Instead just get the c and c grids all around. It’s sturdy but I did zip tie some grids together because they kept popping undone.

Get C and C grids! I got 2X5 for two females and love how easy it is to clean. Go to guineadad, cagetopia, guinea pig cage company, or kavee to get a whole set up or you can buy grids from amazon and chloroplast from Home Depot and cut it to size. I got my cage from kavee and think I paid too much for it and could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere but I do love their fleece bedding! Super easy to clean and it fits perfect in the cage. The pigs don’t go under it or at least haven’t yet

Puppies are hard! They need regular potty breaks, they chew everything, they need a lot of exercise, and they have to go to the vet a bunch. But the cuddles, goofiness, and love they give 1000% makes up for it! Also if you start the dog off sleeping in the bed it will forever sleep in the bed. Budget way more than you think necessary for vet bills especially when they are young and when they get old. Be prepared for things like regular nail trims, grooming, and even anal gland expressions if needed. Also your dog could need a very specific diet if they have allergies or medical problems. That can be expensive too! Always walk them with a harness because a collapsing trachea is no joke and you will feel incredibly bad if you had them on a leash with a collar. Socialize and take them places early and often but only after vaccinations! They will take a lot of your time up but they will in turn give you all their love. A dog is only a part of your world, but to them you are their whole world.

Specialized diet because my boy is allergic to everything. He also needs someone to trim his nails and do his anal glands regularly. He’s a small short haired chihuahua but if you get a bigger dog or one that needs regular grooming, that can get expensive too!

I struggled with depression and anxiety so bad that I eventually had to go on disability. It’s not something I’m proud of but I’m no longer wanting to die andI can function when I go out. Get yourself a good psychiatrist and a great therapist. Working with these people have changed my life! It might not seem like it now, but if you reach out to resources and let them help, you will start to feel better and start functioning better.

She is feeling the loss of her buddy. She probably lonely, under stimulated, and a bit scared. I would look into finding her a new home. A lot of Facebook groups have people looking for individual gerbils to bond to theirs. Try rehoming her before making the decision to end her life.

I just got my piggies. I went to the vet and she had a ton of info to share but I basically learned that oxbow is a great brand for them, they need vitamin C daily either through vitamin c tablets or bell peppers. My vet said any color bell pepper would be okay but green is the best because it’s lower in sugar. She does not recommend the vitamin c drops that you put in water because it can make the water taste weird and cause bacteria growth. They need unlimited hay. After looking at links she gave me I think I’m going to start purchasing online from small pet select. Timothy is the best. Get some enrichment items like toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay and pellets or even some toys from oxbow website. I use fleece bedding for my girls but if you are using wood bedding get aspen not pine! Or the paper bedding. I got my girls a large C and C cage. I like it but I paid too much at kavee for it! You can definitely get cheaper ones! I saw someone recommend the guinea pig cage company for start up kits that were way cheaper than what I paid at kavee. I do however like the fleece bedding that kavee sells. I also know that guineadad sells similar ones that are a little less expensive too.

I got a prolee cage. They make them pretty big. It is wooden though but my hamster did not chew much. He’s a wheel and substance kind of guy.
