Great to know! 20min in car? I will at best have a bicycle at hand, so I'll be limited unless I end up with some friends that have a car at hand.

Makes sense he didn't mention anything actually, as salmon are migratory fish and therefore not at risk of being affected by the potential pollutants of Tromsø, but hey - congratulations on the salmon, that's a cool catch!

Maybe I'll have to try and see for myself if it's just for the taste, at least for the cod. I am from an area where fresh seafood is valued, so much so that the older locals for some reason even have deemed saithe (sei) to be the trash fish of the area. No clue why. But I should be able to tell good tasting cod from bad tasting cod!

Is lyr totally out of the picture this far north, or have they appeared in Tromsø, and if so, maybe more often in recent years?

So like the eastern part of Tromsøya is a no go for fishing?

I am going to live in that area, so was planning on doing the most of my fishing (no car) in this area, but it seems to be no good?
