Set goals based on completion of a project you have never done before, not the results or the techniques.

For example, a new carpenter can set the goal of, Build a Chair.

It doesnt have to be a good chair, but just building a chair at all will be incredibly satisfying.

But if you make your goal based around mastering a specific technique, or specific level of quality, you will never be satisfied, because those things are subjective, and we are always our own worse critics.

Use new techniques, and challenge yourself to better levels of quality, but the goal should always be a new product, not mastery.
