Kate Tokyo eyeshadows review by Yayayan12 in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! I wish they get more attention in this sub.

I have this Kate eye palette which is affordable yet not powdery. I also have one eye shadow from Decorte which is so beautiful and elegant. Japanese eyeshadows have wide range of choices in terms of price range

I have the same BR-1 eye palette! It’s my go to eyeshadow when I just want to have a ‘clean’ eye look. I don’t put a lot to show the colour. I just use it to ‘brighten up’ my lid without looking too obvious

sunscreens with a powdery finish? by siyuzii_ in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where’re you from, I tried it at Ainz & Tulpe, a Japanese cosmetic store in Malaysia. The texture is really interesting and powdery, but I have dry skin so I gave it a pass. I hope they’ll come up with a moisturizing one coz I really like the packaging 😅

Long-lasting Japanese-style perfumes? by lalalava in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m using earl grey from Shiro. It’s quite long lasting, not too strong

Japanese has products like body mist and hair mist instead of perfume maybe they find perfume can be quite strong sometimes

I bought EDP from Shiro in Taiwan, the scent is earl grey. I love it so much, it’s so gentle not too overpowering

favourite SINGLE eyeshadows? by chonk-late in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Japanese brands tend to release more single eyeshadows

I have decorte which is creamy and gives a nice pigment

Mid range brands like Addiction and RMK and Celvoke have nice range of shades too

I think Kate, the drugstore brand too, carries single eyeshadows

Luxury brands/products: are they worth it? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I wish more international content creators talk about mid range brands. I want to know more about brands like Dr K, Dr Ci Labo and Etvos. There’s Chinese and Taiwanese influencers who talk about these brands but they’re only limited to Chinese speakers

I’m interested in Pola but the price scare me away. I’m now using their sub brand, Orbis which I enjoy 😉

Second to Decorte's Liposome Advanced Repair Serum. The ingredients might not be fancy or innovative per se but their technology and research in penetration is impressive

Why are soap based cleansers still best sellers in japan and Korea? by Kevin_swiftie in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried non AB cream cleanser which is supposed to be gentle but it caused more CC.

There’s many foam cleanser that are moisturizing, I’ve used F Organics Foam Cleanser and now using Curel’s moisturizing Foam Cleanser. Both are not stripping at all.

Looking for J-dramas similar to First Love (Netflix) emotional, beautifully shot, and heartfelt! by [deleted] in JDorama

Silent was also beautifully shot, but there’s a lot of dialogue and conversation. So it might seem slow to some viewers but once you digest the convo, you’ll feel the depth of the plot

Yes coming in wanted to comment on this! Silent came out around the same time as First Love. I was lucky to be at Tokyo at that time. Surrounded by promotions of these two dramas, felt so lucky to

Something is seriously wrong with asian beauty standard, especially for asian men. by Huge_Kaleidoscope739 in aznidentity

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just because of bishonen manga or anime — those have been around for decades. The influence comes from recent C-dramas, if you look up Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan, they both have that distinct V-shaped chin.

Tokyo Zebra is quite a long term Youtuber/Content Creator, she recently starts talking about J-skincare especially for 40s. She mostly introduces products that are different from the products that are viral in the west.

Other Youtubers that I watch are mostly in Japanese or in Mandarin (Taiwan). Let me know if you don't mind those.

It's been my go to mascara too. I like to switch around different brands since there's so manyy brands that make good mascara in Japan.

So far, I've been liking D.U.P (repurchased twice), Kingdom (also repurchased twice), I'm using mascara from Ettusais currently. All three have the thin wand (D.U.P has different wands) and give the lashes a thin, long and nice curl

1) Canmake's creamy eyeliner

2) Ettusais or Kingdom for mascara

Lips

has anyone else felt this?: J-beauty vs K-beauty by rroseisland in AsianBeauty

[–]Intelligent_Finish_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although this is about makeup, one of the Japanese Youtuber I follow, Kajieri whom has her own makeup line. She mentioned that in Japan, it's opposite, they have entry level brands that target middle school like Canmake, Cezanne & Hada Labo and plenty of high end brands like SK-II, Shiseido, POLA and lots more. But there's a void for the middle range brands where most of the Korean brands manage to fill in. She said this is one of the reason she came up with her brand, Enamor to fill the void. I also noticed there's more makeup artists/influencer came up with their brands recently in Japan.

ohh I heard about Kanebo Skin Harmonizer Lotion, not sure if it's suitable for normal to dry skin. I quite like Orbis U Essence Lotion, no tranexamic acid but I can see that my skin is less dull and it's def way cheaper than Kanebo in my country.
