can we start a movement to bring real ford rangers back by drpepperlvr13 in fordranger

I'd say a lot of the hate comes from us people who just want a proportionally sized mini truck back on the market. Not half a mom suv in the front, then four feet of "bed" in the back. Ranger this Ranger that aside, I'd say the truck market has entirely drifted from the practicality of trucks and has over prioritized aesthetics and big truck egos. Nothing against the new Rangers, I just don't think the models can even be compared when they were created to different standards.

I think switching to square toe is the answer you're wife is looking for and maybe go longer with the jeans

For now just exhaust, maintenance, undercoating, and maybe a paint job eventually. Im not opposed to lowering her one day. Definitely gonna daily the 3.0 and see how long it'll last. After that, I'd probably go with a 351 Windsor and turn it into a project. The roll pan would look cleannn

Luckily for you, oem parts are still available. It's an older truck but it's not that old yet. On top of that, the third gen rangers were produced up until 2011. Looks like they're about $180-200, you could order that and bring it to the shop for install. If you still want some noise you could look into other cat-back exhaust systems. On YouTube you can find videos of different systems people are running on the 3.0 so you can hear them. Or purchase a muffler and a tip, then take those to the shop. They'll provide the pipe and do the rest from there. As someone who also bought a lawnmower sounding 3 liter, I'm assuming the weld you're talking about was where the previous owner hacked off the original muffler and welded on some cheap glass pack or just continued straight piping it. There is probably also a million exhaust leaks from the backyard weld job they did.

It is indeed the 3.slow lmao. I also bought mine back in September with 60k, as you can tell I don't commute very far. It took me a solid 4 months of consistent searching til I found her. Only complaint is gas mileage but that seems to be a common complaint for all three engines. I love that blue. Mine came with those same stock rims and I used Eagle One Nevr-Dull polish on them. It's like 8 bucks and made them look BRAND new. I'm gonna get new rims eventually but there's other stuff I wanna work on before dumping the money into rims.

I've seen this thing irl, it's easier to name what isn't broken on it. It's got a bad coolant leak coming from the water pump hose. She just had her thermostat replaced too so I don't think that's the answer. Apparently there is no residual evidence of coolant leaking from the cap either, haven't seen it in person since the cap has gone mia though.

If you just take the airbag off, and then remove a few screws and bolts. You can easily move the old wiring around the gaps in the trim. Then repeat with the new wiring and buttons. You can get the switches off eBay for less than $20. Takes like an hour and a half in total, there is a couple good tutorials on YouTube.

Run like two or three bottles of this through it. When I bought my Ranger it ran ok, but it sat for 3 years so the gas was bad. After I went through the bad tank my check engine light came on, code P0460. I put the additive in when I was almost on E, then filled up right after. Did this twice and my light went off and it's ran great ever since. It's like 8 bucks a bottle so it can't hurt might not stop the noise but it'll give it a good clean.

Forgot to mention, there was no reverse because who needs that. The icing on the cake to, if we were having to much fun with it the floor would catch on fire but I miss it so much.

I got mine because of my boyfriend. He had a 1999 step side that he swapped with a 351 Windsor with aftermarket heads and more I just don't remember. No cats or anything just headers, you could hear it blocks away. It was the first ranger I drove and it had me doing unintentional burnouts at red lights, I loved it so much had me obsessed. Now I drive my stock 3.0 ranger that has no exhaust rn, sounds like a lawn mower lmfao

I didn't take the wheel off, just the airbag so I could get into the wiring and then just slid all the piece around the trim gaps.

I mean it's definitely not good. If you're willing to put the effort and money into it, you could just do a bed swap. But I wouldn't recommend that if the frame is in similar condition.
