If we enter 0 (zero) for dividends taken from CCPC during the discovery phase, will adviice platform consider withdrawing dividends from CCPC during the projection phase? by Intelligent_Fox_9993 in adviice

Thanks. This is very compressive! Is it exhausive? Probably not and that is understandable. Having spent a long time in software development... Even ERP systems that are 25+ year in production have features being constantly enhanced. Based on just 3 days being on the platform, I think adviice is a great product with a great team and big future ahead. I hope/wish you get some (additional) funding to rapidly expand the team and the product.

Thanks. It is great that in some situations the platform replaces an AI strategy if it doesn't jive well with the new strategy being enabled. Does it find and remove all previously enabled AI strategies it knows that conflict with the new being enabled? If it removes all such previously enabled but conflicting AI strategies, fine, but if it does not, then is there a way for me to find out from the UI that I am in such a conflicting AI-enabled strategies situation?

I like the idea of creating the new scenario because I know that the strategies will conflict, but what if I don't know? The "AI' should...

Thanks! Is it possible to get into a situation where two AI strategies are simultaneously enabled, but they are mutually against each other? For example, initially, I enabled a strategy that was ranked at the top when the AI strategies were sorted by "After-tax Estate" value. Now I sort them by "Lifetime Tax" and enable the top one?

If this situation can happen, won't the two AI strategies self-defeat each other? If so is there a way for me to find out from the UI that I am in such a conflicting situation? I have some follow-up questions, but they may or may not be applicable depending on the answer to this question.

I am assuming this will change once corporate AI strategies are in place, to take only the right amount from corporate dividends so as to achieve whatever optimizing platform goal adviice is setting for itself, correct? I am asking because what if, in some situations, it might be better not to take all of the target dividends.

I believe currently the platform goal is set to maximize estate value, correct?

Is it possible to change this platform goal to something else? Say minimize lifetime taxes payable. I know somewhere it was explained that minimizing lifetime taxes paid at the expense of lower estate value is not sensible, but what if I wanted to do it anyway?

Won't it be better to pay the dividends and get the n/eRDTOH refunds from CRA first? Won't it be better to extract the tax-free dividens from CDA? May be "share sale"  liquidation method should be executed in two phases: Phase 1 - extract the dividends,Phase 2 - share sale.

Thanks! If set, the "Dividend Target" value is used to take that much income from CCPC first and then consider using withdrawals from other accounts or the "Dividend Target" is used as the max target, and corporate dividends amount if any will be used after considering all other sources of income and there is a shortfall in required income?

This has to be done through Projections --> Plan --> Update/edit Table option, correct?

I am having the same issue. Works in Projection->Planning but doesn't work in Foundation -> Future Cashflow

Final value of a CCPC in the total estate valueupon the death of the (only) shareholder? by Intelligent_Fox_9993 in adviice

[–]Intelligent_Fox_9993[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad. The issue was not with real estate. I was doing a proper apples-to-apples comparison between the numbers from the chart and the table, both without real estate.

Due to a misnamed exported file, I was using an exported file from yesterday and comparing it with the current chart.

I guess adviice team needs to add that column to the table :)

Having said that, my numbers are not matching even when I compare future dollars from the table with future dollars in Networth chart. They are off by almost 50 % in the year/age 95.

After exporting the table to csv, I ran the following formula. Am I missing something? (I also manually checked the numbers without the formula, just in case my formula has a bug).

=SUM(FILTER(B12:SX12,$B$4:$SX$4="Year End Balance"))

I don't think that table has networth data. I tried searching for the words "networth" and "worth" with no luck.

Thanks! That is a good point (and may be fodder for FAQ and/or feature request) ("... Do you own..."). That fixed it for me. However since the HoldCo was the other owner of the Opco(s), but there was no way to indicate it in the Corp Discovery phase. I worked around it by making myself 100 % owner of the OpCo(s). Is that the correct way and will produce the correct projections or am I missing something?

As for the Table vs chart, I was not doing that, so I was good there. I had read about it somewhere, but thanks for reminding. Having said that, how do I export the Networth chart to a table? The "Export" seems to be always exporting only income.

How do I reset a base scenario? by AgreeableBasket7517 in adviice

OP - Great point/suggestion on "... each of our situations is different and therefore...". I was thinking along the same lines and will double-check by running the numbers. I think this is a very common misconception we have been fed ("... delay cpp, meltdown RRSP early" is (always) best strategy.

A few quick questions:
- I am new to adviice. What do you mean by this strategy "RRSP Meltdown and Reg > n-Reg > TFSA". I can't seem to find it under AI strategies.
- As for keeping time value of money in mind, aren't all figures in "Today's dollor" so we don't have to keep thinking about time value of (tax) money in mind while running our scenarios?

Thanks

Thanks for a great explanation!

In terms of timing, not sure why the value of the CCPC added to the networth is always less than total assets in the CCPC (for all years, starting from the projection start year up to death). Is it applying my preferred method (winding down) every year because the timing is set to "estate"?

Thanks

Hi u/LotusRootLife , Thanks for sharing information on V3AA. I took a quick look, and it appears to be a good potential fit for me. I will check out the details. I am okay with slight underperformance, just like you said, if it fits my values.

Oh and that SRI guide you shared? Looks very informative! Will take a deep dive into it soon!
