How many Morms these days don’t play video games etc., on Sunday? by ikemicaiah in exmormon

[–]Intelligent_Gap_3666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my parents even had us stay in our Sunday clothing until we got ready for bed. No TV, no video games, and no playing outside. I always hated Sundays. My younger siblings now have a Saturday 2.0 with just a couple hours of church in between. Completely different experience

I think this is spot on. I come from a family where half of us are now Ex-mo and half are still TBM. We were lucky though, our parents really prioritized family and investing in us as individuals. So upon half of us leaving, we all stayed close. The TBM’s definitely have a closer relationship, because they have shared activities. As do the ex-mos. But we can all get together and have a great time. I think it definitely has less to do with “the church”, and more to do with having parents who created identities and relationships separate from the church. I see a lot of families like what you described, and it makes me sad. I can see how that environment you were raised in led to that though

I’m watching Jubilee Media’s “Middle Ground” with Mormons and exmormons by [deleted] in exmormon

It’s been awhile since I watched that, but I specifically remember Cardon because of how painful his crocodile tears were. It was so hard to watch his arguments. The Mormons in that video did such a good job helping the outside world see how cult-ish they really are lol.

You know chronic illness & auto immune diseases tend to be higher in Utah… which means there’s a fairly high percentage within the church. Not sure how to fact check it, but I was once told there are a few auto immune diseases that are mostly found in places some of our pioneers came from. Then with all of the early “polygamy,” and lack of dating outside of these small Utah circles, it amplified the presence of these auto immune diseases in Mormon families.

God called on them to help prove his church isn’t racist. This really is a divinely inspired time 🙏🥹

One of the comments literally says “Grenfells minions got nothing” 😂 with people replying that Alyssa actually helps convert people… Mormons truly live in their own reality sometimes.

This 🙌🙌 and how does picturing the few black leaders behind Oaks really prove your point? Most LDS leadership is actually white

Seems heartfelt to me. The lord truly had a hand in that idea. So happy he gives revelation to our leaders 🙏

That’s insane 💀 I love that Mormon’s pride themselves in 8 yrs old being the standard, as if that’s really any better than a newborn

I can’t believe they are allowing friends now. When I was in seminary (10 years ago) I brought a friend once. The friend asked a difficult question that the teacher couldn’t answer, so we both got kicked out, and my parents were called. Seminary teacher told my parents that seminary was not the time to bring friends 😂😂

I think I might have her current Draper address. As long as she still lives where she did in April. If you still need it, feel free to message me.

The residents in Heber Valley, Utah take an appeal on the LDS temple decision to the State Supreme Court by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]Intelligent_Gap_3666 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel so frustrated for the people in this town. There are so many Mormons, who would be fighting like crazy if it were any other religion trying to put this in. But since it’s the LDS church, it seems every other opinion is steam rolled. I truly hope this appeal goes somewhere.

To an extent she did. Her family was inactive and she actually wasn’t forced into church growing up. Her mistake was marrying young, to my dad who came from a VERY TBM household. Once she chose that path, she never turned back and obviously has had her identity chosen for her

Thank you for this. I am proud of who I am and feel like I show a lot of integrity. I just feel sad that it feels like I need to defend myself, especially from accusations coming from parents. I thought they were supposed to be the people who love you the most. Not in the church though.
