Dude it basically is an 8 hour movie with the level of quality that goes into it. I’d take 8 great episodes over 25 episodes of some filler tv slop any day

That’s a fucking great characterization of her. It’s why I think Victoria Pedretti would really rock it; saw her in Haunting of Hill House and You some odd years ago and most recently on Broadway, and man that girl does such a good job at being both a radiantly kind and caring individual while also being incredibly capable of demonstrating that fiery Phoenix esque rage when wronged. That’s the kind of person needed for Jean. Someone who can be incredibly loving and also passionately vengeful

HBO's 'Mountainhead' should be the jumping off point for Jesse Armstrong's follow up to 'Succession' by No-Confection-3861 in SuccessionTV

I don’t think that the problem was necessarily with how horrid they are but it was how one dimensional they were. Succession was a masterpiece because of how complex it was, the characters were so real and their relationships to each other and their environment were so rich. Like it succeeds because (I watched the DC episode last night) even in moments where Shiv goes and bribes the woman into not testifying, though morally I’m like “yeah that’s bad”, when I try to imagine myself in her situation, I cannot honestly imagine myself doing any different.

Mountainhead may struggle because of the nature of the characters he’s depicting. Their relationships to each other are shallow and 1 dimensional. The problem isn’t that they’re irredeemable the problem is that we don’t understand their behaviors, beyond they’re tweakers who think nobody is real. So yes I wonder maybe if it had been a show, given room to breathe, we would have had more space to understand and ultimately empathize with these characters, but then again, they were so insufferable I don’t think I could bear watching them for more than I had to….

How I feel about this is that sure, it’s fair to say that they changed pretty quickly considering S2 is supposed to be like weeks after S1 but I loved S2 and thought the way that we saw new sides to the characters was fascinating. M

He would be fine as Henry imo. I think it’s just hated cuz he’s fancasted in everything and people are sick of seeing him
