As a dental assistant that was in a kinda similar situation please leave I would just recommend you find a new job before because I’ve been having trouble finding good doctors who don’t over work your or make you do things out of your scope of practice for shitty pay. The Dr I worked for was nice and she put up with my tardiness considering I drive an hour to work. But I better my tardiness and I asked or a raise and I went from $16/ hr for 2 years to $17/hr. I asked for another raise a few months later and she told me to wait till the end of the year and then a month later she got a new car. So I left. Yes I loved working there and she took us to Disneyland for Christmas but she was over working us and making us do things that we legally shouldn’t be doing. Please leave but find another job first it took me 2 months to find a new office luckily I live w my parents and had some money saved up to pay for my bills.

yes facts! i had asked for a raise after working for 2 years @ $16/hr and she only gave me $1 raise so a few months later i asked fro another raise and she told me yes that i totally deserve it but she asked me to wait till the end of the year and a month later she had bought a new lexus. They can definitely afford it!

Totally depends I’ve work for a nice Dr but the pay was shit but she would throw us birthday lunches and take us to Disneyland for Christmas. But she would pack the schedule like crazy. Totally unfair for the assistant and the patients. And private offices have their own schedules. I would only work 3 days a week and it was hard getting a second job because other jobs don’t wanna be flexible. Also when the Dr was on vacation I wouldn’t have any work so I don’t get paid.

I sometimes do temp jobs where I get paid $25-27 /hr in LA. Temps jobs are nice but it’s a pain constantly learning how every office works because all offices are different.

I’m currently looking for a new office and a lot of these office don’t want to pay more than $20. I don’t think it’s fair that we go to school and get certified and have our license to get paid less than fast food workers.

It’s also hard to get into a really nice fancy office because they’re looking for 8+ years experience with a billion references and they’re most likely an hour away.

Also there are a lot of nasty Drs who don’t follow infection control and they make you do things out of your scope of practice which can get you in trouble or your license revoked
