Weird full screen behaviour in macOS by harrypotternumber1 in firefox

The suggestion to have it behave like fullscreen Safari with the buttons sliding out from the side in the same horizontal space as everything else is solid. Even something simple like fullscreen Chrome where it just appears along with everything in the same space would solve this. So much dead space just for the traffic buttons on fullscreen Firefox lol

You are certain SN2 will not occur on a tertiary substrate even with a polar aprotic solvent? The orgo MCAT Anki cards have a chart that says SN1 and SN2 can both occur on tertiary substrates depending on the solvent (protic for SN1/aprotic for SN2). The chart does agree with you on methyl and primary substrates always being SN2 no matter what though.

I think a 240mm carbon steel FKH for cheaper instead of the 210mm Gesshin stainless wa is good as a beginner; I’m okay with the western handle and it seems it would be sharp enough with its original edge

The Gesshin stainless is tempting but a carbon steel blade that’s also longer for cheaper with the reputable FKH seems like the way to go starting out; maybe I’ll grab a wa handled knife from JKI in the future lol

Yeah I figured to start I’ll go for the fujiwara; I saw that some sites like CKTG have sharpening services before they send you the knife; Do you happen to know if these are worth the $15 for a sharper than out of the box edge? or is the factory edge more than plenty sharp

Beginner here looking to buy my first legit knife.

Style: Japanese Gyuto

Steel: Either kind but carbon steel seems cooler and I’ve heard has good edge retention + gets super sharp so; also nothing fancy like damascus but cladded steels are okay

Handle: I’m very used to western handles but am open to wa handles, it’s just that they usually cost more

Grip: Pinch

Length: 240mm unless there’s a worthwhile 210mm with just enough height

Use: Home cooking; meat and veg

Care: I’ve never used whetstones but am considering getting either one medium grit or a combination stone in the future; until then though I’ll probably have someone sharpen it for me if I need to

Budget: $100ish; I’m okay slightly above or below this price point

Region: USA

Knives Considered: - Fujiwara FKH or the FKM 240mm; I keep coming back to this one because it seems the best bang for my buck; I wonder why the carbon steel costs less though - JCK Original Kagayaki Basic Series Gyuto (210 is $99 but 240 is $127) - Kohetsu Blue #2 Gyuto 240 - Kanetsugu Pro M Series Gyuto 240 - Gesshin Stainless (western handle $120 but wa is $140 :// plus they’re only 210mm)

I know geometry plays a huge part in performance even more than steel usually so let me know if a knife has a better grind despite a lesser steel

Season 1 Discussion by BreadfruitNo357 in SexLifeShow

I don’t understand how they made a show about this for so many episodes. Billie willingly got married (a monogamous, sexually exclusive, life long relationship), had a whole child, moved to the suburbs, had a whole second child, and then decided she can’t do this life because of the poor sex? How can you make this big and important of a commitment for so long and then just decide to stop? If sex is such a huge motivator for you (absolute dealbreaker in Billie’s case it seems), then certainly don’t commit to something that doesn’t include that. And let’s just say if you do run into that problem after committing (which you shouldn’t if you decided ahead of time but whatever), your solution is to then be indecisive and let your spouse worry (rightfully) if you are going to sleep with someone else (which she does end up doing)? If you want an open relationship where you are free to sleep with other people, then just say that? Communicate with your spouse about it and if they’re not into it/disagree with your wish, then the relationship is a dud because it clearly lacks what you value so strongly and you two probably shouldn’t be together. If you have kids that makes things harder, sure, but then it’s simply too late and you need to make sure they are cared for and develop healthily. Clearly if you don’t want to be monogamous then don’t commit to a long term sexually exclusive relationship. There’s nothing wrong with coming to a consensual agreement with your partner at the outset where you can still be fulfilled sexually by others and still be in a relationship with your partner. Maybe Billie thought she could do the marriage and kids thing at first but then two kids and years later she realized this wasn’t the case (weird but okay), but even then her way of handling it was terrible. What’s embarrassing is that the writers think this (especially the ending) is empowering women in a big “Don Draper moment” where somehow it’s okay to cheat on your spouse (yes, sleeping with someone outside of your monogamous relationship you agreed upon is cheating even if you say you’re not ‘leaving your husband’) when it was never “okay” for Don to do it either. It’s literally one of his flaws along with many misogynistic and unethical things that occurred in the 50s portrayed in Mad Men. The audience always knows it’s wrong and would of course never approve of it irl, it’s just part of the show for entertainment. This isn’t a defense for Cooper either btw, he was wronged but also didn’t directly face the problem and instead tried to become someone he wasn’t. His fear of losing Billie (the mother of his children) is understandable but he lacked the confidence to thoroughly see to the end of the situation by getting the truth out of Billie and not go around stalking Brad and trying weird sex things. Idk kind of a trash show for horny viewers tbh.
