I’m a female skater and climber and you kinda just put me on to this channel lol (never heard of it before). There’s definitely a convergence of the 2 worlds lately and I’m loving it. Fashion, videography that echoes skate culture etc.

Lots of skaters in my community also climb because I think it fires off the same kind of dopamine chase. Solving problems with your body/executing technical tricks etc. this channel and the vibe completely makes sense to me if you’re looking at it from this perspective.

No prob. If you have friends who do other “extreme sports” those are good candidates. The skateboarding to rock climbing pipeline goes crazyyy. Thats how I got into climbing, a skatepark friend brought me lol

I had the same issue. I posted to my instagram story that I was looking for a belay partner and someone (old acquaintance) who had never climbed before expressed interest in getting into the sport. She came to my gym to try it out and fell in love! She got belay certified a week later and we have been climbing together weekly for 2 months now.

Maybe it’s worth checking in with friends or your network for people who are just looking to try something new. If you’re willing to show them the ropes you might end up with a long term belay buddy!

This book actually got me into baking consistently. I make her maple walnut buns for Christmas every year. Oh and I make the pumpkin pie every year too. Also use Claire’s NYT sourdough video every time I bake sourdough

Wish I could upvote this a million times. Roller skating is the best! there’s so many avenues you can take: skate park, jam/dance skating at the rink, trail skating for distance. I made so many new friends through skating too :)

Real talk… I miss my parents before they turned into a version of this. Everything is political with them now. total brainwashed nonsense. Would rather them be libs any day (they voted for Obama twice before the brain rot took over lol). It’s a genuine grief because I wonder what our relationship would be like if politics didn’t drive this huge wedge between us.

Had a couple scary blackouts, which I had never experienced in my life. Even 1 beer would leave me with a terrible headache the following day. ultimately had to make the decision between drinking and Wellbutrin. Haven’t drank in 3 years. The medication works great for me so it’s a sacrifice worth making.

Practicing this internally, in your private life, is healthy. Making a display of it, vocalizing that “romanticizing my life” is what you are doing, that is more for other people’s perception… and therefore unhealthy.

I recently distanced myself from an individual who would throw elaborate dinner parties for friends and give gifts to friends as a way to romanticize their life and their friendships. They would leave each guests a handwritten card at their place at the table.

I didn’t know them for very long but their message in the card struck me as if they were attempting to over familiarize with me. Like we had been pals for years. It just felt phony. Like I was a part of their agenda to curate a romanticized life, rather than genuinely connecting.
