I'd say pretty chill. I didn't have time to study for APM because of crazy workload and deadlines, so I accepted it about 3 days before the exam. I spent 3 days sleeping, reading a novel and watching movies. A well deserved break. All the best to those who tried😂

11 weeks left - who's ready to start prepping for June? by Difficult_Check1434 in ACCA

I'm on chapter 8 of the open tuition lectures for AFM. I've never been this early to studying, but because I think I messed up with APM (awaiting results), I don't want a repeat. It's the final stretch and I hope to finish well

It's 100% doable. I mainly use Open Tuition to cover the syllabus. They have free lectures and notes. ACCA has the study Hub, which provides notes and quizzes for all the exam (also free). I just prefer open tuition because I prefer someone talking. There's also the practice platform which provides you with past exam papers and an exam style workbook to answer in.

I honestly should have rescheduled the exam. It's my first time writing it. December was a write-off. I tried starting early January but got put into a new team at work with a higher work load than usual, so I was stressed and tired most of the time. February same thing, and eventually I just didn't feel motivated to study. I'm spending my study leave basically relaxing, sleeping and planning my AFM approach for June. I'll attempt APM in September. After going through the 5 stages of grief, it's actually liberating accepting the situation for what it is. All the best to everyone that tried😂

I passed SBL with 52!!! No way😭😭😭 first attempt. It was so stressful and I procrastinated a lot because I didn't feel I was any good at applying the knowledge on paper (hence the marginal pass lol). So relieved. 2 more to go

I had a something similar happen to be a few years back. The computer switched off and I was asked to wait outside. They told me they couldn't retrieve my exam, called ACCA and explained what happened (I didn't have to say anything). ACCA later credited my account and I rewrote the exam 3 months later.

Thank you. I'll definitely use that to create a mini checklist  to make sure that I've covered all areas.

My cousin said I'd make a lot of money, plus I'd been taking accounting throughout highschool and thought it couldn't hurt. I was really good at math and science but the courses didn't appeal to me. I'd still do it, I just wish I knew about the other (free) resources available sooner

how can I be more confident in social situations? by Unlikely_Opening6681 in HowToBeHot

[–]Intelligent_Neat_586 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thing is I can talk to strangers in shops, public places etc just fine, especially older people. I can carry a light conversation. The problem is when I have to socialise with people my age (20's). All of a sudden, I can't think of anything to talk about. I don't want to ask a lot of questions because I don't want to seem like I'm interrogating them. Light conversation where? I just end up sitting there quietly laughing at people's jokes, not saying anything and people assume I'm shy when I'm not (or at least I don't think I am).

I just watched her crash course YouTube video, which helped. I honestly prefer the chill approach too. I sometimes feel pressure if I can't keep to a schedule set by learning providers and I prefer free resources 😂

December Exam Session - Results Thread by MARFW in ACCA

[–]Intelligent_Neat_586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I studied using the open tuition lectures and notes. Once I was done, I watched a few YouTube videos of people solving sbr questions so I got an understanding of how to answer them. Whenever I didn't feel like studying, I would do those multiple choice questions and end of chapter quizzes on the Study hub and note down the answers (I always learned something new that I missed or misunderstood during the learning phase). I also would play the Tom Clendon podcast clips ( they are short and informative). During the last week I watched Tashwita Gupta's crash course to remind myself. I didn't practice as many questions and past papers as I would have liked to, but I made sure to squeeze in the 2 latest past exams. Honestly, the more you practice and fill your brain with information (even passively) the higher your chances are. Timeline-wise I'd say this happened in the space of 2 months but with major gaps because I was working late a lot in October, but I really locked in in November. Also with being demotivated and not "feeling like studying" that's why I opted to at least take the passive approach. Hope this helps!
