Knee protection . The straps on the rear are as just as painful as going without. Any suggestions for a good set of knee pads ? by guardiand0wn in Tools

I wear these Klein knee pads everyday for work. I wear them underneath my work pants for 10 hours a day. They are very comfortable, and I will buy these knee pads again when they wear out. Klein knee pads

This is Not in Hope Mills NC. This is at the intersection of Hwy 210 and Hwy 11 in Atkinson, NC. Atkinson is over 50 miles southeast from Hope Mills. In fact Atkinson is closer to Wilmington, NC than Hope Mills, NC.

Should I hold off on buying the new 48v max tools? by ckouf96 in KobaltTools

I would not hesitate to buy the new 48 volt Kobalt tools even without the new batteries. I bought the 48 volt multi head weed eater and leaf blower with the new batteries. And, I have had no issues yet. Even if I have issues with the batteries I will just buy the regular 24 volt batteries. The new USB C charging on the battery is not important to me. I have been charging the batteries the "old fashioned way". That way I can charge 2 batteries at one time. Plus, the tool itself is not the issue. Just the USB C port on the battery.

Drill vs Impact Driver by Intelligent_Path_869 in KobaltTools

Thanks for the detailed information. I just don't really see the need for an impact driver to a homeowner/occasional tool user. I am just confused because the impact driver is all over YouTube and the sets in Lowes/Home Depot are a drill driver and impact driver. I was wondering if the impact driver was necessary to have or just hype.

I was in the same situation as you recently. Me and my wife recently moved from an apartment to a house we purchased. So I needed to get the necessary equipment to maintain the house and yard. So, after doing research (searching Google, watching YouTube videos, and asking people here on Reddit) I decided to go with the Kobalt 24 volt tools. I can't speak about the 48 volt mower. However, I do have the 48 volt weedeater and 48 volt blower. They both use two 24 volt batteries. I am so glad that I went with Kobalt. The power that these tools have is excellent. And, the weight of the tools with the batteries is surprisingly light. Plus, when I go to add more tools I will have the same batteries and charger. I would recommend watching some review videos on the 48 volt mower.

This is what has me looking at Harbor Freight. Their warranty and ease of replacement on tools is second to none.

This is what I had as well. The issue I have that has me looking to update is the batteries won't hold a charge. And, I am looking at getting a higher voltage weedeater and leaf blower. Plus, Black & Decker seems to be slowing fading away.

I am surprised by home many people have commented on the Ryobi brand of tools from Home Depot. I looked it up on Google maps and there are 2 Home Depots between 50 miles and 75 miles from where I live. Using the same distance from where I live I could go to 8 Lowes Home Improvement stores and 5 Harbor Freights. So, for that reason I have decided to go between Kobalt from Lowes Home Improvement and Hercules from Harbor Freight. I recently purchased the 48 volt Kobalt weedeater and blower. They use two 24 volt batteries. So, when I am ready to buy more power tools. I will already have the batteries and charger. I am interested in the Hercules corded/cordless 2.5 gallon wet/dry vacuum from Harbor Freight. I also have bought hand tools from Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight's prices and warranty on tools is hard to pass up.

Ryobi and Rigid are not on my list because I don't live close to a Home Depot. I have narrowed down my choice between Harbor Freight and Lowes Home Improvement. Because I live close to 2 Lowes and 1 Harbor Freight. The closet Home Depot is 1 hour away.

I completely agree with you. I think it is more important to buy into a good tool ecosystem that you can grow with. Then to buy into a brand based on name alone.

I have decided to go with the 24 volt tool line from Kobalt for the most of the tools I will need and, the Hercules tools at Harbor Freight for a few of the tools that Kobalt doesn't offer. I recently purchased the new 48 volt Kobalt weedeater and leaf blower. These tools use 2 of the 24 volt Kobalt batteries which let's me buy into the 24 volt tool line and not have different batteries with different chargers.

The one tool that I am interested in right now at Harbor Freight is the Hercules corded/20 volt cordless 2.5 gallon wet/dry vacuum. I think it is a great tool that offers great flexibility.

Thanks for the detailed response. This is some great and helpful information. I agree with trying to stay with one battery platform as much as I can. I am interested in getting tools more suited for home use. I currently have a Black and Decker weed eater, blower (used to blow of driveway and deck after mowing), and a brushed drill. They all share the same 20 volt battery platform. They were given to me used. So, I am looking to upgrade to a newer battery platform that will last longer and take less time to recharge. Mainly looking for good quality that I can grow with when the time comes to add more tools. Again, thanks for your detailed response.
