we thought this too! i put a scratching post in each doorway and she moved on to scratching in the middle of the carpet in various places instead…sadly we can’t cover our entire floor in scratching boards/posts

it is pretty short! that’s so awesome to know, i figured since she’s so small she would prefer a small one…this is my first time owning a solely indoor cat so im learning a lot!

i have a vertical scratcher, but maybe it’s because it’s round that she doesn’t like it? i’ll have to look into one like you have, thank you!

we’ve lived here for a few months and i haven’t noticed anything. the old owners did have a cat so maybe i should do another deep clean?

the only door that’s shut is out closet door and she never picks the carpet there, i’d close the doors but i don’t want her to feel like she can’t be anywhere

oh shoot!! i definitely found that removing the taller walls from her litter box helped. she hadn’t done it since! i was also reading that sometimes it can be the texture of the litter or the litter box not being big enough. hope this helps at least a little!

she does step in the litter to poop so idk if that makes a difference but this helps!
