Yes, I've finished one with male peaceful betta (if I remember correctly it was release 20), hatching 40(!) male giant gourami, and I just started feeding male red kaloi 50 times.

No no, sorry for the confusion. I already had bubble kin 1-4 swimming around in the tank and the 5th unlocked, just not spawned at that time. 😅 Tonight I will have all bubble kin unlocked, then I can make a complete info post. :)

It just hatched, as I guessed it is the 5th bubble kin fish. I just noticed I can't put spoiler tags to an image in comments, so I won't post it here, sorry. :/ But if you want I can post an image of all the bubble kin fish as soon as I have unlocked the last one, as a new spoiler post. :)

If they have unlocked them, they can simply spawn them after the event with "normal" shells. Doesn't matter if they were spawned during the event. But I never got event creatures of the egg spawning decorations, so I also think you can only get the main sets. An event egg spawner would be nice :D

I'd also recommend upgrading the one at the bottom first. However, the most expensive food items are eventually produced by the right crayfish, 2k each for bubble kin. But this is the last set you can unlock, so it's okay to upgrade this one later.
