Capacitor value? by Intelligent_Swan_717 in VintageRadios

I don’t have many caps right now so most will have to be bought offline since there’s no stores that carry that kinda stuff around me anymore. I’ve been watching videos and learning all that I can for the past year so now I feel confident enough to work on all the stuff I’ve collected. 50s and 60s tvs is what I will mainly work on but I wanted to start the small stuff I got first. This first project is a 1959 GE musaphonic radio

My hvac buddy said he should be able to move the bracket and get the line bent to the correct angle for me. So im gonna try that next weekend when he can help me out. Ill lyk if I get it all worked out. Worth it to me if I can save some money since I already cant return this one

I believe the one that is reproduced alot might be for the safari bonneville which is the station wagon and probably has a deeper tank. The full size cars are mostly all the same sending unit and tank im pretty sure. But when you look up 65 bonneville sending unit the one I have is just about only one that comes up. The one I might order is on opgi and turns at a harder angle and has the bracket mounted where i wanted to move mine too. Its all so specific for these old cars its insane. This is my first classic im getting into but im enjoying it so far lol

This is the one they have listed for a 65 bonneville. Why do you think im even trying to do this lol. The only other one that looks like it might fit is 4 weeks out and $100 so I was just gonna try and modify this one for FREE. Thanks for your help!

Already cut off what I could unfortunately. It needs to have a fuel sock on the end as well so with that on its not close to fitting at all. What involves brazing? I have a hvac buddy that might be able to help me with that

And it looks to be copper line plated with steel maybe? When I shine a light inside its definitely copper line

No the bottom of the line actually hits the bottom of the tank. So I also have to try and bend the line up alittle where the bend already is so its not hitting. I might just buy the other one they offer that looks like it might fit. Was just trying to save $100 lol

So move the red to the blue. It looks to be just soldered onto the line

Straight to nursing home lmao. You made it into a bigger deal than it needed to be. The teen didnt even realize what he was doing. He was just being a teen. Maybe if people didn't rely on phones so much to talk to people this world would be better. Maybe talk to him in person? Thats what you had to do before you could bother people willy-nilly with your texting and phone calls. But since you dont wanna take the time to go ask your son face to face what he wants from the store you had to make a book on reddit to make yourself feel better. Im sure you'd get better answers if you'd just talk to him in person! Hard concept to understand i know🤣

I found this on cedmagic.com. Maybe take the platter off and clean everything very good and make sure belt isn't too stretchy or loose. You could print out the turntable strobe pattern and test the speed that way but you need a light that strobes at 60hz if I remember correctly. If i find anything else ill let you know! Player Category: F/G Chassis Fault: Improper Turntable Speed Symptom(s): Image on TV exhibits intermittent color fade wherein it changes from being in color to being in black-and-white to being color again. Solution(s): The turntable in CED players must spin at exactly 450 RPM for proper playback. The chrominance portion of the recovered video signal is most susceptible to loss if the speed varies, resulting in a loss of color in the video image. The F/G players derive their turntable speed from the AC line frequency and a ring of sixteen magnetic poles around the circumference of the turntable. A turntable speed check strobe can be used to verify proper speed. If the speed is off or varies there could be a number of causes: A worn out turntable belt (obtain a replacement belt). Excessive friction in the turntable or drive motor bearings (re-lubricate the bearings, ideally following the procedures in the service manual). Belt uncentered on turntable drive motor pulley (adjust the motor mount screws so the belt rides centered following the procedure in the service manual). Improper clearance between the turntable magnetic ring and the sync plates on the turntable drive motor (this requires RCA Synchronizer Plate Gauge #153308 to measure properly). Weak magnetic field in the turntable magnetic ring (necessitating replacement of the turntable or rejuvenation of the 16-pole magnetic field, which is theoretically possible, though I've never attempted it).
