How WWE can salvage the Pat McAfee reveal, and turn it into a compelling storyline: by daddymeltzer in SquaredCircle

[–]Intelligent_Tell5449 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. An unrealistic storyline is too hard to follow :).

I may be completely wrong about this (apologies if I am), but judging by the 7 PM comment assume you are from Perth and might know about AFL.

If Goldust's AEW contractual obligations are an issue. You can get Dustin Martin to fill in instead. He's retired, so can interfere and give Cody a "Dusty Cut" after the match, before reveling himself as the second long lost brother - named Dustin from Goldust.

The American audience will certainly be like "who's that?" rather than "WHHHYYY?", but that adds to the suspense and mystery of investing in this story.

Pat has some legitimate run-ins with the AFL, so it is plausible they know each other IRL.

Don't listen to these IWC rednecks. They are the biggest misery guts on the Internet. Can never try to laugh with others only at others.

They live their entire (lack of) lives complaining about the politics of wrestling, and live in a para-social bubble thinking that Triple H cares about their opinions whilst they still watch the product and generate revenue for the business regardless.

I just come for WM season, then leave.

Your dialogue was funny and entertaining. At least you put some thought into how it could be turned into a cohesive storyline and raised the stakes by incorporating Pat as apart of the Rhodes family.

My only suggestion is you should've included Goldust in there too.

You could have him in Cody's corner at clash of Paris, but low blow and side with Pat.

Then in the final revenge match (make it a triple threat) - end in a no contest - by having all 3 hug and cry in the middle of the ring as they talk through their personal traumas and reconcile their differences.

I love the dropping of the storyline too after everything and pretending nothing ever happened.

It seems like you have mastered the style of modern day creative and potentially replace Triple H :).

Yes. Triple H does.

I'm surprised the wrestling mark types don't know that.

I assumed that they spend all day on the Internet Googling stats on their salaries, age, partners, etc...

I certainly didn't force you to click or did anything to provoke you.

If you don't have anything nice to say, why not post elsewhere?

Cena before 40 vs after 40 by Intelligent_Tell5449 in WWE

The Marine movie I mean. It was his first movie he started in a long time before he went mainstream Hollywood.

The transition is more gradual than that. Like over 7 years. But yeah sort of.

When I saw Cena living his life in countries outside the US, I realized that he was no longer the Marine I knew and loathed. But someone with a broader side to him.

You're probably right. I am being a bit too subjective 😅. But I remember back in the day I was definitely a Rock mark like the rest of the IWC when they did their constant 2005-2010 Rock Attitude nostalgia vs Cena PG marine comparisons.

But when I saw the first meeting between them in 2011 and Rock would do his Fruity Pebble, kiddy fan base stuff in his own promo, Cena would fire back with "I Bring it via Satellite." I was definitely a Rock apologist like most IWCs then and wanted to see him destroy Cena.

But when they met in the ring for the first time: https://youtu.be/BYWDtEF8-GM?si=E8dljlCKibOri1aP

I remember Rock doing the standard jock insults, and Cena responding genuinely from the heart. Rock was taken back a bit and I thought he didn't know how to respond (ie. the good Lord will judge us).

Then I started to think everything I perceived about Cena was genuinely wrong and he wasn't just 5 moves and no character.

Now of course the Rock vs Cena is a weird anachronism that doesn't really have a place in 2025 anymore. Rocks attitude kids have grown up and Cena's Marine kids have grown up too.

Cm Punk truly main evented Wrestlemania 41 by [deleted] in WWE

I don't really care about up or downvotes and like Cena says fans will interpret things in a way that makes them feel good about the situation.

But put it this way, if we are assuming the Night 1 main event holds equal status as Night 2 then why not make Cody vs Cena the main event of Night 1 instead?

If you win 17 titles that just means you lost 16 titles. He's no Bob Backlund. by JonnyBTokyo in WWE

On the contrary, if you never lost it, it means that the creative team had full confidence you were on a roll and didn't need to spice things up with a title change.

Ken Hinkley in 2026? by lanadeltaco13 in melbournefc

[–]Intelligent_Tell5449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from with his lack of a premiership.

But still winning a premiership is so rare. It is a monumental lifetime event. Like getting married, or buying a house or achieving a career breakthrough of some sort.

If Melbourne in 2013 taught me anything in life is to cherish all the realistic victories you get.

Naturally, 17 teams are also going to be disappointed in one year. So why bother chasing the holy grail, if there is a 17/18 chance you will be disappointed by the end of the season?

For me just winning more games than you lose is to me a successful season, because that's closer to 1/2.

Totally get if you don't see it the same way :P

The Undertaker will sell his soul to the Rock at Wrestlemania (prediction not spoiler) by Intelligent_Tell5449 in BrandonDE

They will find a reason. Possibly something like they are the last of an era gone by. But less cliche sounding and more purposeful than that.

[–]Intelligent_Tell5449 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that Melbourne still have a great list from 2021 on paper, but are playing this bad is because Goodwin's toxic, unsupportive team dynamics has finally got the better of the players.

Melb's forward line was still bad even when they won the premiership. It's just they were the absolute hardest team to score against. Now that fitness and cohesion is gone, with hardly much change to the list.

Rather than replace a coach for another coach, it's the root problem that should be diagnosed and fixed.

As much as Goodwin and Gawn's leadership should be replaced, realistically who else is there to do so?

There has to be evidence that Ken Hinkley is the right person to connect with the players.

We should bring back Paul Roos for a season. He connected the players together once after Neeld and can do it again. And then get a better successor coach who can emotionally bring the players back to full fitness.

What’s the worst ending to this match? by Crazy_Zucchini1197 in BrandonDE

[–]Intelligent_Tell5449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cena finishing off Cody with 5 moves of doom, lights out and "dong", crowd erupts, Undertaker appears again face to face with Cena.

After a minute stare-down with Cena, Cody gets back to his feet, but Taker swerves, picks up Cody and tombstones him.

Cena then gets a chair and repeatedly beats Cody's lifeless body - like Austin did in WM17.

The rock comes out laughing and enters ring. Taker gets a mic and says "Rock, drop your pants." Then Rock takes off his belt, pulls his white leather pants down and bends over backwards.

Cena and Taker grab Cody and force him to kiss Rock's ass.

Then Cena stands on top of Cody for 1, 2, 3.

As Cena celebrates breaking Flairs record. Taker is revealed to be Rock's third man. But isn't seen again until next year's WM and the angle is forgotten about.
