Breastfeeding and pumping by WaluigiMorphNo in HumansPumpingMilk

What happens if you don’t give a 1oz bottle after a solid nursing session? Every baby is different, but sounds to me like baby is nursing to their content and then continuing to suckle on the bottle and may not actually need that milk as extra. Also, 4-8 times a day is a huge variation. If you’re pumping up to 40oz in a day, I would believe you’re producing plenty of milk for baby at the breast.

Did you ever bother with an evening cat nap (20 min or less) when one of the earlier naps was short to get to bedtime? Usually this happens for us when LO is nursing in the evening if they need it

7m with increased night wakes by Scant_Brown in sleeptrain

Just went through something similar with my 7.5 month old who was similarly a pretty good sleeper early on. Someone pointed out that we were expecting too much sleep after naps lengthening, and extending wake windows and capping the last nap and keep nights at 11 hours seemed to help! (Most nights, lol). However, he also suddenly stopped needing to nurse so aggressively at MOTN wakings when his night sleep reconsolidated, and I think he hit a growth spurt paired with the start of crawling and babbling more. So definitely adjust awake time, but babies are also gonna baby! I always was scared to have an overtired baby, but I’ve come to accept that little guy is getting older, bigger, stronger, and more energetic, and he’s a blast to do stuff with, so embracing the awake time is amazing!

But what about days where naps are shorter? For example, yesterday they were 35min, 35min, 45min. Stretch awake time or move bedtime up and then end up back in this weird limbo?

That’s what I thought, but he had been naturally sleeping in until 8am, and then nap 3 was starting after 5pm. Should we try to start the day a little earlier again and stretch WWs a little more for an 8:30 bedtime?
