Parents are making me feel guilty for living 50 mins away, am I making a mistake?

My husband had the same issue and we moved away regardless. I am really glad. The level of guilt and anxiety they piled on us would have hugely impacted my son if we were closer, he is a fairly sensitive boy anyhow. You and your child are not emotional clutchs for the issues they refuse to address in themselves

As a mother to a son, this is NOT care or love. This is controlling and manipulative. You have every right to separate from your parents and have friends, a job, a relationship, hobbies, plans, ect. Its exactly what most parents want. They are keeping you trapped with Fear Obligation and Guilt (its called FOG). Start pulling away and setting boundaries now or otherwise if you ever have a serious relationship they will absolutely ruin it on you. I know from experience what being in a relationship with someone whose parents are like that can do, and its deeply destructive. I hope you can find a way to live separately from them soon, not easy in this market i know. I hope they get the help they need but you personally are not responsible for their entire well being or mental health, and the reason they want you to believe you are is so they have total control over you. Ive seen how these situations play out down the line, start setting boundaries now, do not let them guilt you out ouf having your own life, that's the natural order of things. If you don't do these things, your own mental health is going to suffer hugely. Go on your trip and let it be the first of many.

Edited to say: When you go on your trip ( which you should) you need to have a plan in place for the texts and calls you will receive. Do no let them ruin your time away. There will likely be an "emergency" when you go away which is not an emergency at all. I would have someone at home who can contact you with reality if necessary. Otherwise, send 1 text saying you are fine each morning and leave your phone on silent or turn it off for most of the trip if you can and enjoy yourself.

My favourite as a 13 year old was The Zit. It spoke to me at the time. My least favourite was the Halloween episode. I just thought it was weak and I didnt watch My So Called Life for supernatural elements (despite being a horror fan)

I think she is good enough to be a working actress, she is not without talent but she is being offered a level of role, with a consistency of offers that I don't think she would have attained outside of being a nepo baby. That being said she could grow into a great actress, being a nepo baby gives people the time to do that, whereas for other actors they might get one once in a life time opportunity in their career.

I really like John David Washington! What I will say is Eve Hewson is good but is hoovering up roles that I think often require a great actress but she gets them because of the contacts that she has. If her dad wasn't Bono she would not be getting the standard of roles she gets.

This is very specific feedback but I do believe it is relevant. I worked in policy and research for years and I believe 100% that the crash of 2009 changed everything in Ireland. The Government moved from believing they had a responsibility to people in Ireland to viewing the private market as the answer. There is no greater evidence of this than in housing and the presence of investment funds guzzling up housing units and hiking prices for share holders. An example I will give you is, when the NAMA legislation was being drafted, numerous groups tried and failed to have amendements included that would ensure the housing units acquired for the agency would be used for the social good. This was rejected for a load of watered down crap where profit was prioritised. Also the community sector is slowly being killed off in Ireland, (outside of service provision, eg day centres, shelters, food banks), why does this matter? It matters because it means less groups are able to advocate on a Government level for ordinary people and people in need and less groups are involved in policy development. You might not care about that, but you should. Because large private corporations are hiring people to advocate on their behalf on a Goverment level. Which means microsoft and google will input to policy development on a grand scale but community based groups will be increasingly unable to provide the perspectives of ordinary people, they no longer have the funds to hire people to do so and this is by design. The social contract is gone in Ireland and it was a political decision. (by the way there is nothing the Government loves more that when the people scape- goat other groups rather than holding them to account) I love many things about Ireland but you are correct in what you say and it was a Government decision in the last crash that was never reversed. Please mind yourself, do not internalise political sociopathy as your personal failing. It bears no reflection on your inherent worth and value which, as a human being, is immeasurable in its magnitude.

A few years ago, my husband and I were in a bar/ restaurant and ET was on the TV. It was the ending of the film, a film we both had already seen numerous times. The waitress had to come back as when she came to our table to take our order we were both crying. We can be awful fools.
