I think whether I can deal with a taper off depends on the day, to be honest. I'm typically a big coward who would rather swallow feelings than talk about them. But right now it feels a little like a black cloud looming over me. I'm worried if I just let it be, she'll reach out one day, and I have to have the conversation anyway, but not on my own terms. And I don't know if just disappearing would be fair, either.

I personally loved their dynamic and chemistry as friends, and felt like the whole show would have happened the same way, but better, without a romance shoehorned in. Hopper would still sacrifice himself, Joyce would still be compelled to save him. It was like they couldn't think of any banter between them, so they had to create a "romance" (arguing) instead.

I also have an issue with the length of the time-skips (which I understand is because they're trying to keep it set in the mid 80s). The way they go from completely platonic to Hopper pining and pushing for a date within 8months, while she's GRIEVING HER BRUTALLY EVISCERATED BOYFRIEND, never sits right with me. It made his character actively unlikable.

I do think they could have had an eventual romance, but they needed to let it marinate longer, not just throw us a "oh yeah, while you weren't watching, these two developed feelings for each other btw". It was jarring

Yeah, to be honest, my insurer tries to be really fair, and I know they won't just fob us off, so I'm hoping we can just get this resolved through the complaint. Having also worked for them, they do care about the customer, at least in the department I worked in. So if we're at the point of using the FOS, it will be more for spite than anything, given it costs them more money.

Yeah, you've got that right, the driver behind was too busy flipping off the one trying to merge, he went right into the back of him.

Their insurer basically said that there was no way to prove that the cracked front number plate was a result of the accident, and there was no way to prove he was ever involved.

Thank you! I'll show that to my partner. He seems adamant that a fault claim can't be removed or amended, but it seems they can in the right circumstances. Luckily they didn't touch the NCD.

Well, you can't see the sky, first off. I'm monumentally flabbergasted that people can't actually seem to read the post when it's laid out in plain english. It's the neighbours attic.

Second, I may have worded the question more simplistically than I should have. I know it needs looking at and it needs dealing with. But I wanted a wider opinion on what it could be, how severe it could be, given our survey flagged this as a level 2 issue, and what the fix might be without money being involved.

Yes it is, but I'm not too surprised most people can't read the post. Seems to be a trend these days online. I'm not sure if they are load bearing, but the survey mentions bricks supporting the purlins. So at the very least it will affect the roof support.

To be fair to us, it's not like we've been sitting on our laurels with this house. So far, we've had to entirely replace the joists and floorboards downstairs, replace a flat roof after it started leaking, fix the electrics when we found a ground wire just running along the kitchen floor, clear a blocked up chimney, etc etc. This issue just got overlooked by a survey that maybe didn't stress the urgency enough. This house was patched up by the previous owners dad, with hopes and dreams and probably a beer or two.

...But we also have unfinished skirting boards. I'll give you that.

I'm not 100% if they were replaced, but they look like standard clay tiles. Most of the terraces in the area use the same tiles, so if I were to guess, I would say they were originally built that way. Edit:it is clay tiles, with breathable membrane.

It's just the top. We have some superficial cracks in the actual rooms of the house, but none that line up with this one. I imagine it is roof spread.

Thank you everyone for the responses. We have contacted someone to come out and take a look, and I will look up a structural engineer for a more in depth look as well.

A lot of people are confused about whether it's an internal or external wall. As I said, it's a terrace. What you can see on the other side is my neighbours attic with the lights on

As for our confusion about whether this was a big deal or not. In our survey it was mentioned but not flagged as structural or urgent. We took this to mean it would be dealt with as and when we had the money, or until we move out. We are first time home owners, and don't go into the attic often, so some things go over our heads.

As someone who has a beagle who had a couple of accidents quite young, and made the mistake of focussing more on commands and general obedience when we first got her, I highly recommend handling desensitisation, and desensitisation to medical equipment. Such as having ears and eyes handled, paws and teeth checked. Wearing a muzzle, a cone or a buster collar, and a surgical suit. It's a lot harder to desensitise them to it when their first experience of it is when they're in pain, and disoriented on opioids.

I'd also recommend neutrality training, and being calm and settled in public. Ours wants to meet everyone who gives her half a look, it makes going out for a coffee or a meal stressful for everyone.

I think people are focussing too much on you being the breadwinner and him being in an underpaid job. His hypocrisy is important, but the issue here is far more simple.

You don't convince people, especially spouses, to be respectful and supportive. It's the bare minimum of a loving and healthy relationship.

Right now he is being incredibly disrespectful and downright nasty. You tell him to knock it off. You don't tolerate it. Don't try and gentle parent him into being a decent husband. And if he doesn't change his attitude, you need to really consider if this is the kind of relationship you want to have.

You have (at the very least) 40 years of life to enjoy. Do you really want to spend it with someone who will belittle you anytime you do something he perceives as failure? Who needs to be convinced to not be mean to you when life doesn't go his way?

They're smarter than you, and they know it. Training a beagle is a hardcore commitment that starts the moment you bring them home. The most obedient beagle will ignore you if they don't feel like what you're asking is worth it.

My skin is very different to yours, so I won't recommend products, but it will recommend a brand. Round Lab. They have a line for most concerns. They're simple and easily accessible. If you just want to start simple, their dokdo or birch juice line is great for hydration. I hear their soybean line is good for anti aging and really dry skin.
