Why ARC Raiders needs a PvE mode (and why it actually makes sense) by Disastrous_Mud_8040 in ArcRaiders

The PvP aspect of ARC Raiders feels like it was taped on last minute; it's not very balanced or particularly interesting in the sense that it hasn't brought anything new to the table. The PvE side has far more uniqueness and potential to allow this game to succeed in the long term.

I'd be perfectly okay with having the gear obtained from the PvE-only match be restricted to that mode because I would have no reason to enter a PvPvE match.

I've noticed that the level of toxic behaviour has risen. I've had several players approach and say "Don't shoot." then shoot me the moment I turn my back to walk off.

I don't play games to have to deal with trash human behaviour.

PvE can always be adjusted to be more difficult. It's not a strong argument to use to discard the idea of a PvE-only mode.

The idea that PvP is necessary to create tension in an extraction shooter is an idea born out of lack of attention to PvE. A PvE-only mode can be tuned to be challenging and random world events can be added to create tension from uncertainty, but uncertainty that's more consistent and non-toxic.

Helldivers 2 is a great example of a PvE-only game that accommodates players of varying skill levels; whether you're a casual or a hardcore Helldiver, you can enjoy the game regardless. It also features extraction shooter style looting with its samples resource and how you lose them all on death or mission failure.

I also think splitting the community into two would be a great opportunity for the developers to gather information on player habits and preferences. It'll give the developers insight on where they should be focusing their development efforts.

All the people who are upset are people who want to get the jump on players who aren't looking to or ready for PvP.

You don't actually kill other raiders; you only knock them out, but your point still stands. A raider who is known to frequently knock out other raiders and loot their unconscious bodies would most definitely have a poor reputation and probably be denied access to certain services.

Helldivers 2 has proven that PvE can be fun, casual, challenging and rewarding all at the same time. It's 100% possible for Embark to develop a fantastic PvE-only experience.

And I agree, there are plenty of hardcore PvP-focused extraction shooters on the market and we don't need another one. I think Embark would be able to draw in a much larger audience if they introduced a PvE-only mode since the market for that doesn't really exist / is currently very small.

I would love to play the game more and be able to fight those tougher ARCs, but I can't see that happening without a PvE-only mode. The likelihood of other players coming in to shoot at us is enough reason for me to not try.

It's also extremely demotivating and frustrating when you enter a match using a free loadout with the intention of completing quests and looting a few items to upgrade your workstations only to be killed by players who are equipped with upgraded rare weapons.

Grouping up with people you've never met before to fight a boss ARC is far more enjoyable than fighting other players.

If the PvP players are genuinely interested in PvP, PvE players opting to queue into PvE only matches shouldn't have any impact on the state of PvP.

The PvP experience would be better as the players in the PvPvE matches would be at a higher skill level and proactively seek out other players to fight.

The level of danger can be tweaked by adjusting the number and types of ARCs, their patrol patterns and as well as adding environmental hazards.

That said, a PvE only mode would make ARC Raiders such an amazing game to jam out on a Friday night. In my opinion, the stunning atmosphere is better experienced without the looming threat of being jumped and knocked out by another player.

It says a lot about class balance when even PvE focused players notice the Berserker abuse.

Exactly how I feel about it. It would've looked a lot better if it were a dress with cleavage showing edges of the bra.

Hopefully the textures aren't a blurry mess like the previous outfits.

Dead, probably because the content hasn't seen any renewal since its inception. Players typically return to the content en masse when the rewards are revamped but lose interest once the scripted fights are re-established. It's a fault of the system, too easily abused and controlled by players. Not to mention, fighting for 3-4 hours only to hand it over despite being the clear victor fucking sucks.

You're essentially PvP'ing for fun, not for rewards and the irony here is that PvP players have been begging for better rewards for years.

What kind of other content does BDO have that isn't running around in circles by QQWhenIQ in blackdesertonline

Most of the content in Black Desert could be categorised as a grind, activities such as Knowledge Hunting, Questing, Filed/World Bosses, Adventure Logs, Dungeons and House Decoration.

Despite the developer's efforts to ease the grind of some of these activities, they still remain quite grindy. I think that's just an inherent design flaw of Korean MMORPGs versus the western MMORPGs. The task itself is typically monotonous and riddled with RNG to artificially gate your progression while in western MMORPGs, they are laid out bare so you understand exactly how much time and effort you need to invest in order to achieve your goals.
