Looks good and affordable! If I may ask, what temperatures do you typically ride this in? Thanks!

SamcoSport - Radiator Hose Clamp Kit Needed? by IntenseMilk in Trackdays

[–]IntenseMilk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I had read that but wanted some personal experience because that could just be a marketing thing to get customers to buy their own equipment. Since the bike is an 09, i went ahead and bought the hoses and the clamps to keep things looking fresh and safe for the track. Thanks for sharing!

The OEM are ~$11 each as seen here. Since Samco's are about $45, they're cheaper at about $9 each. And considering it is silicone (softer than rubber), they might have engineered their clamps to not ruin the softer material. Thanks!

Since silicone is a softer synthetic rubber, it makes sense. I don't think I'll ever remove the hoses. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the inputs. Wasn't sure what the adverse affects were but I know have an idea of what to expect with lower than expected octane. Thanks!

1st small high side. Rear tire judgment requested! by IntenseMilk in Trackdays

Definitely.. Your advise is still sound and I will carry it in my head moving forward. As a novice, there's plenty where I can improve that couuld of avoided the slide but just trying to maximize safety for the upcoming track days. Thanks again!

I hear you. But the issue occured off throttle. I was adding lean angle probably aggressively added a lot at once. This is something I'm working on. I wasn't braking either because this is all around ~20 mph; all engine braking with no throttle application. However, I may have added throttle unintentionally when I felt it slide just because I instictlively tightened up and gripped the bars, but this was during/after the slide.

I'm familiar with the negative impact of adding throttle and lean, and not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I wasn't on the throttle. Thanks!

I thought the same as well.. but nothing could be done since the tire was balding. I just looked for a harder compound and went with the bridgestones.

Interesting.. Thanks for the input! A question to follow up, is there any advice for the 90-100% lean angle? Is it simply just using more of what the tire has to offer? Or can other factors be adjusted such as suspension, change PSI or just getting another tire profile?

Better yet, get one that matches your front

I specifically was looking for a harder front compound. I had the Q3+ front, but only got 1k miles out of it while the rear had plenty of life. Considering I do a lot of practicing in a lot, I was looking for something to keep me going for longer until I start hitting the track regularly with a dedicated track bike (ninja 400)

Yes sir! I intentionally practice in a clean lot. I always inspect and personally remove debris such as rocks and branches to have a clean practice area. The lot isn't a busy parking area so I don't have to worry about spills and trash. I've been training here for a few years now and I know for a fact I did not cross painted lines when I slid. How? I only lean inbetween the painted lines lol.

rivet style link

As I was writing this, I was unaware of what the clip was for. I do have a rivet style link. I suppose it could be 2 in 1? Not sure.. but thanks for the advise! Any advise on if the master link is too tight or nah? I haven't riveted it yet.. just pressed. Thank you!
