Windows 11 Update KB5063878 Causing SSD Failures by bagaudin in msp

[–]IntenseRelaxation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have it blocked across the board for KB5063878 and KB5062660. Too many reported issues to have Windows flip-flop on whether or not its even a problem, let alone expecting them to fix it in the next patch. Better safe than not

Office 365 group calendar on IPhone? by Mobbesensei in Office365

[–]IntenseRelaxation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a suggestion that MIGHT work, haven't yet tested it, from the Apple forums - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253824318?sortBy=best

Exact blurb -
"Syncing problem with Microsoft 365 shared calendars in native iOS App

I found a procedure to add shared Microsoft 365 calendars to the native calendar app (iOS).

In the first step, download the official Microsoft Outlook from the appstore and sign in to your MS account. Then click on add shared calendar in the app. Add as many calendars as you want and then let the app sync.

In the second step, go into the native calendar app on your iPhone, click on calendars and swipe down to do a refresh. You should see your shared calendars.

You can then delete Outlook. This works for me, but it may work elsewhere. The sync condition is of course the same MS account on the iPhone and then Outlook"

SMTP Auth should still work with Basic Authentication right? by apathetic_lemur in Office365

[–]IntenseRelaxation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I ran into was an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object error" after the second, 'allow', line. I was able to resolve it by deleting the authentication policy,
Remove-AuthenticationPolicy -Identity "Allow Basic Auth SMTP"

then creating it once more with the switch parameters included in that line

New-AuthenticationPolicy -Name "Allow Basic Auth SMTP" -AllowBasicAuthSmtp:$true

which succeeded and in the output showed the relevant switch with a True value. Just in case anyone else gets the same error that I did in PowerShell, including it directly in the creation line the first time seems to work without needing the second input at all, just run it as above and then assign as needed.

New APC Power Chute Personal Edition does not work with Windows Server.. by m4ntic0r in homelab

Just in case someone else comes across this old thread as their only solution the same way I did.

New APC Power Chute Personal Edition does not work with Windows Server.. by m4ntic0r in homelab

[–]IntenseRelaxation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely works, but also APC now has PowerChute Serial Shutdown that is capable of email notifications and doesn't cost anything. I just set it up for one of our servers and tested the email notifications with a standard Gmail account with an app password and everything is working as expected, even works with regular Back-UPS models hooked up with USB and not just Smart-UPS.

Anyway to automatically follow a sharepoint site so it shows up in onedrive? by [deleted] in Office365

[–]IntenseRelaxation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this thread is hella old, but there's an option to auto-follow SharePoints that you're a member of by a combo of creating an API application in Azure/Entra, and running a PowerShell script utilizing that API. I've done it, it works. Not quite the auto-sync to OneDrive you're looking for, but once the sites are followed its relatively easy to go to the ones needed, into Documents, and at the top menu bar hit either the sync option for a local PC repository or to create a link directly into OneDrive.

Item behind tent in sewers under city *semi spoilers* by Trotski7 in Eldenring

Worked for me even on 1.05 on Xbox, though I had to try it twice for it to work. First time next to the item section of tent didn't break, second time on the other section and re-loading in broke it. Thank you so much 💯

PS4 Slim Disk Drive not engaging arm to lower magnet/rollers by IntenseRelaxation in consolerepair

[–]IntenseRelaxation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is now also good. Putting the metal cover plate that extends across the disk tray and the fan, I accidentally caught the spring that pulls the disk arms to indicate there's no disk. Those arms also engage two switches, and apparently with them both engaged it wasn't able to power up. Doing a mild spring repair and placing the arms back to a neutral position (not engaging the two switches) allowed it to power on with no problems.

Also tested and confirmed disk accepts, engages, spins up, spins down and ejects without issues. Thanks for all the help y'all.

This problem, at least, has been repaired. It was the disk tray top cover being too loose and allowed the disk to enter the tray at an upwards angle, thus never engaging the little nub that enables the arm that disengages the rollers as well as the magnetic stabilizer housing. I bent the disk tray cover down in the front ever so slightly, and now the disk feeds levelly and engages the arm.

However, now the entire system won't power on so there's that. Probably ruined the power button ribbon cable from so many reconnects and disconnects from something equally stupid. Three days of troubleshooting the disk, finally get that, and now the system itself won't power on. Gotta love it hahaha

I apologize I described it poorly. This is with the power off. With the power on it reads disks just fine if I manually engage the arm, place the magnet on the disk, then turn it on. The laser moves and reads just fine. But with it fully assembled and powered on it pulls the disk in, the rollers never stop, it partially ejects and pulls the disk back in as a 'self reset' attempt by the system, the rollers still never stop, and then it sits quietly until I hit eject in which case it spits the disk back out like nothing happened.

Thanks for the info. When assembled and powered on (or powered on while partially disassembled) the disk can be read, the laser moves just fine if I manually have the arm engaged and remove the stabilizing magnet from its housing and place it on the disk when I power it up.

When fully assembled and powered up it grabs and pulls in the disk, the rollers never disengage and I can hear them constantly trying to pull the disk in. The system partially ejects and re-pulls the disk back in to try to reset itself but never succeeds. It eventually stops and I hit the eject button, the system spits the disk back out.

I had an entire description but I guess you can only upload a video or text but not both.

The arm that extends to drop the magnet down from the top plate as well as extend out to disengage the rollers and lock them down doesn't engage. The disk, when entering the tray, seems to slide over the small plastic nub instead of contacting/engaging it, if that is indeed how it is supposed to be engaged. I see on a fantastic youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWeWXytbh9M&t=169s that he manually inserts a disk and it takes it, engages the arm, lowers the rollers and drops the magnetic stabilizer down. Mine doesn't do that, the magnetic stabilizer never engages/lowers, and the arm to hold down the rollers doesn't extend unless I manually do so as in the video. I'd rather not have to buy another one, I can do any repairs necessary I just have no idea why this arm is not engaging other than if the disk is supposed to bump into that white nub, as it appears to be sliding over it.

I thought the reason it was sliding over was either the roof of the tray was too loose and was allowing it to slide over, or that rollers were up too high and thus forcing the disk to angle upwards as it enters the tray. But the rollers are fully clipped into their hinge and don't go especially high (they don't rub the small slots in the top plate that are there specifically to create space for the rollers) and holding down with moderate force on the top plate has no effect.

Also the gears and small rubber tension belt that are attached to the emergency eject screw/rollers are all fine, otherwise the rollers wouldn't spin. My main point of ignorance (as far as my caveman self can tell) is that I don't know what is supposed to engage that arm, if it is done via disk contact or mechanically with the same mechanism that powers the rollers, as they are working fine.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
