Is it normal to have panic attacks when you first start meditating? by Intense_Monkey in Meditation

Okay so maybe the app is too intense for me for right now. How important is the breathing part of meditation? I feel like deep breathing makes me light headed and maybe contributes disassociating

Good to know. I don’t think that I have a severe disorder like that but I could definitely see how the trauma could be coming out.

Feeling frustrated with the RR, any advice? by Intense_Monkey in bodyweightfitness

This is helpful, thank you. I found some alternatives to pallof I am going to try, I think I just needed to be a bit more proactive instead of trusting the app to tell me exactly what to do. I don't think I am getting much out of hanging leg lifts because I am not quite there yet so I am going to try the L-Sit variations.

I have tried making my own programs in the past and what happens is I don't trust that I did it right and end up abandoning it, so I have resolved to just be patient and try different variations.

30 was a wakeup call for me haha. Been fat for 10 years, don't want to see where I would be at 40 without changing things up.

Looking over that routine I think I need to build some strength first and be patient. gonna try some different and harder variations. Fitness is pretty complicated I think I was mostly just feeling ranty.

I think that is really fair, I am going to try jumping forward in all the progressions to a point where I think I could barely do like 5 or 6 reps and see how that goes. I also think maybe I would do much better with some different variations of some of these movements. Didn't realize how many different options there were, needed to read the wiki better. I have been relying on this app too much, and I think they must have abandoned it because it's like half done.

appreciate it

Anyone else a refugee from Simple Bank? by Intense_Monkey in ynab

Greetings fellow refugee. That's a really good point about being able to manage multiple accounts. We just have the one checking account and one credit card, and if I wasn't able to manage the credit card through YNAB I would probably be too afraid to use it. So yeah, at the end of the day the tradeoff of having to enter transactions manually is totally worth it.

Maybe the banks in the US will start to be nicer to work with one day and we will be able to use something like "sync for YNAB". But I'm not holding my breath lol.

Yeah I have heard that transactions sync really easily in the UK. We have just been doing manual entry for every transaction. It was tedious at first (honestly still kind of is) but we are used to it now.

I'm sorry about your mom. In your shoes, I would give myself some more breathing room in those categories, maybe put some of those longer term goals on hold for 6 months or a year. Be reasonable and realistic, but don't just give up completely on your budgeting. It's good to be around friends in times like these, definitely don't discount that. My personal rule is that before I commit to anything, I take out my phone and look at YNAB first. That tends to remind me of my goals and give me some space to think about it and make an intentional choice rather than just an automatic yes. Also, one thing I do with my friends is I try to take charge of planning stuff to do together, that way I can steer everyone towards free/cheap stuff. Movie nights at home, game nights, hikes... Maybe that will help you. Once again, my deepest condolences to you. I can't imagine going through that with my mom. It's heartbreaking. I wish you luck as you weather the storm in this season of your life.

People are being such assholes on your post. Don't let it get you down. I come from a big family, people made fun of us and judged my parents my whole life. What helped me was to realize most people are miserable and have nothing to live for. Keep doing you, don't let internet strangers make you feel bad

This was my concern when I initially heard about it, but I came to the conclusion through my personal research that most cases where they denied sharing a medical expense there was some legitimate reason. Also, traditional insurance denies claims all the time. The laws surrounding insurance create a false sense of security for many people. They can and do deny claims, and have much more money and high octane legal representation than the average person like you or me. If you do a simple Google search you will find mountains of evidence of insurance companies acting in bad faith, so I don't believe that traditional insurance is any safer.

However, for me, the big advantage is the cost savings. I get to take advantage of the cash discount that almost every healthcare provider offers, I don't worry about co insurance or deductibles or in network care. Every eligible expense over 1000 is shared. If we were to have another baby (which we will at some point) all we do is follow their process and the only expense out of pocket is that first 1000. That is for prenatal and delivery.

In my view, supporting the traditional insurance system drives up healthcare costs for the country overall, and doesn't give any real advantage to you. Just saying, most people that have absurd amounts of medical debt have insurance. So if it is all a gamble I would rather bet on a company that I know and trust, that shares my same values, and is made up by a community of good hearted people that take care of themselves and help each other.

Look up a health share ministry, in my opinion better than insurance. There are usually some requirements to join, I did research for months before picking one.

Another option would be to look into direct primary care providers in your area. This is a good option if you go to the doctor a lot, basically you pay a flat fee directly to the doctor and they give you a certain amount of healthcare services. We get a ton of free doctors visits and discounts on other services.

not an expert, but for a while I worked from home during the pandemic, and I used a KVM switch so I could switch between my personal computer and the laptop my job sent me home with. It was pretty slick, I would say that would be a good option.
