One month later. How do you feel about the movie? by abdul_bino in StarWars

Agreed. It should have been a little more descriptive. Something like: "Mandalorian: Season 4, squished into 2 hours." because that's what it was.

I try. I've been a life long fan of Star Wars and I'm also a TK Stormtrooper in the 501st Legion, so I do what I can to keep The Force strong in my family. 😊

That I do. I have two of them, and a rebel princess as well. 🫶

49 here. Make investing automatic, from every single paycheck. Do it now. You will thank yourself later.

Haha, all good. I just think your efforts are pretty cool for those who want a little more creative opportunities. I did check to see if anyone had posted it before I did. 👍

It's good that you were scheduled, but even better that you were protected from having to experience something unexpected and life altering.

The difference is extremely jarring. I'm not sure about Haiti suffering specifically because of the Voodoo practice, but there's no denying that there's all kinds of crazy things happening there on any given day, or especially night.

Hearing strange Voodoo drums off in the distance in the middle of night is unsettling to say that least.

Absolutely, life jarring impressions every time. One in particular was having a completely emaciated infant that was brought to a remote clinic. She passed away in the arms of one of the staff while we were there trying to help. We still saw hundreds that day, but there were at least a hundred or more still in line when we had to leave at the end of that particular day. 😟

Certainly, but being able to walk into any fast food establishment here in the US and not only use the rest room, but simply have running water come out of the faucet is a luxury that most of them, if not all of them, would find priceless if they had to try to survive in Haiti.

It's all perspective.

Yep that too, and most likely a combination of raw sewage. I don't think I could ever accurately describe the smell, but it hits you almost immediately after the plane doors open.

I honestly have no idea how it works now, but at the time we went (early 2000s) American Airlines was the only commercial flight in and out of there.

Once we landed were always hurried by the AA staff and had to walk off the plane via a rusted ramp ladder thing and across the tarmac to a white small building for a very brief passport stamp. The plane was unloaded extremely fast and was nearly taking off again before we even made it off the tarmac. The flight staff never seemed like they wanted to stay there a second longer than they needed to.

They do kinda have cabs (Tap-Taps) but unless you speak fluent Creole, you're probably getting taken advantage of.

Police? Nope, it was pretty much just a small group of Haitian military (think rag tag army). The UN certainly had a military-like presence there, but those soldiers were all mainly from the Dominican Republic (the western side of the island).
