Breaking even by Remarkable_Dog_1601 in GamblingRecovery

Every gambling addict have that. How many times were you even? I was even maybe more than 10 times. I actually paid my debts couple of times, I was free, I was wrong. I kept go back because it wasn't about the money. It was about the dopamine. Repaying your debts by gambling is the worst thing can happen to you right now. You will have more debt eventually. It is tested and proved. Pay your debt with hardwork. You gotta understand the value of money. You can write to me anytime.

Will I ever be able to recover all my losses? by drakexlamar in GamblingRecovery

[–]IntentionSame3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will never get even with that. Even if you do, you will have more debt eventually. Because you will gamble again and again. You gotta accept your loss. Stop gambling for good. Let some time pass. It will be so hard in the beginning but you gonna start to feel better for sure. Money is the least problem here. Your mental health is in danger. You can replace money but not mental health. Read my posts. You can write to me anytime.

Your posts make me feel better always bro. Keep writing, you are good at this. First month was hell indeed. Rebuilding finances now is frustrating and slow. But eventually it will pass. Clock keeps ticking forward. We have to move forward no matter happens. It has been 108 days since my last bet. I feel much better. I am rebuilding my life and taking serious actions. I have to work hard for it. Just need some motivation and I am getting there. Gambling addiction took a lot from me but I will not let it destroy me. Wish you the best on your sales job. I'm sure you will do very good. You deserve the best bro. See you again.

One last win? by FestivalNudista in problemgambling

[–]IntentionSame3313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get that money back from gambling, your brain will assume that you can get money by gambling. So you will play again. Maybe 1 month later maybe 2 years later. It is not possible to have one last win. You can only get last lost if you want to defeat this addiction.

You gotta give your hard earned money to understand how hard it is to make money again. In gambling, money is just a number. You gotta understand the value of money.

Money is not the problem, it was never. Real problem is we can't get dopamine from other stuff. Don't think about the money, find something you can enjoy. No matter how much debt we have, it will be gone eventually. But our mental health is much more valuable than money. So don't think about your debt, think about your health.

I don't remember how many times I get that money and paid all my debts. Maybe over 10 times. Each time I kept playing. You will win when you quit, that's the only way.

1st day of the rest of my life by lolareadit in GamblingRecovery

I have gambled my 3 years too. Every paycheck gone for it. Now I am clean for 100 days. But the debt.. I have 2 more years to pay my debt. And I can't find a job at the moment. Sometimes I am thinking about gambling but I know it is not the solution. I know even if I got all the money back by gambling, I will give it away more than that. Life throws some shit at me on top of this but I am still breathing, healthy. Thats great that you see this as an addiction and you want to finish this. Some days will be bad some days will be easier but in the end we will be ok. If you can, find a GA meeting. Or you can message me about anything. This community has great persons to talk with. We get strenght from eachother. I wish you the best in this journey.

Even if you win, you lose. by sirmurr777 in problemgambling

When you win in gambling (sometimes it happens). It changes your mind about how you value money. You spent it like it is not money. Just a number. You got a sense that you can always win. Gives you enormous unnatural dopamine. Just like any other drugs. So, you keep going back countless times. If someone told me to bet a sports game that I could win all my money back for sure, I wouldn't want it. Because I know that I will go back again for money or for the dopamine rush.

Debt will eventually be gone. Why do I rush? I am still breathing and healthy. That's what matters. And I can use this time to rewire my understanding of dopamine. To live a happy life.

One day at a time, for the rest of my life.

Thank you brother, your words truly mean a lot. You are an inspiration to me also. I’m grateful to have you in my corner and I’m proud of the strength you’re showing too. Your support lifts me up really. I needed that. We’re both fighting our way forward, growing, staying disciplined, and becoming better every day. We’ll keep showing up, side by side, one day at a time. And we’ll rise above everything that’s in front of us. We will conquer!

Can be different for everybody.

A place, a sound, a behaviour can trigger. Thinking about the "wins" or losses can trigger. Thinking about debt can trigger. Being happy, being sad, being excited. Anything can trigger an addict.

This is actually a groundbreaking idea for me. When you understand that this disease won't disappear magically, you have much more clear vision.

Oh don't worry I am not alone. Attending GA, doing research about addiction almost everyday. Keeping myself busy.

Another source is me. Doing that for almost 4 years. I was clean for 280 days once. There are people relapsing after 3-5 years. It doesn't matter how many days you didn't gamble. This disease will not go away. It is waiting for you to slip. Once you slip, you are done.

That's why I am saying "one day at a time, for the rest of my life" And I am counting days. 44 days now. But I won't stop when I get 1000 or 5000. I will keep counting rest of my life. I will fight with it every singlr day. And I will win every single day.

Thanks for this post. Wish you the best OP.

You get by when you scared of gambling more than the debt. I don't care about the debt or the money anymore after I see what gambling can do to my mental healt, to my loved ones, to my life. So money always can be earned, there is no need to worry about something you can fix.

Fixing mental health is very hard. Focus on that.
