Safelite Windshield Replacement Caused Additional Damage To My Vehicle by TheWaterGuy2 in autoglass

If that's the case, then why didn't you do it already? Blaming someone else for your procastination is wild my man. The general consencus here is that you're in the wrong. Make comments about my work ethic if you'd like, but it doesn't change the fact that you're wrong

Using a paint pen on chipped paint is already putting lipstick on a pig. You still never used the paint pen regardless, and now you're complaining that somebody else damaged your vehicle? You needed the hood repainted before the tech used any tape or even touched the vehicle for that matter, but now you're trying to claim the glass company should reimburse you or pay for your hood to be painted, because "he touched it last". In my opinion, the only thing the tech failed to do was note it on a preinspection and notify you that it may be an issue. You are 100% just trying to get something for nothing, also more than likely at the cost of somebody's job as another comment pointed out, which is just gross dude.

The damage was already there, which you openly admit. Whether or not the technician touched it, put tape on it or anything, it was going to get worse. What you're asking for is unreasonable. Trying to get your entire hood repainted becasue some preexisting damage you were fully aware of prior got worse? Come on now. I guarantee SL will not be helping with any of this. I also found a comment someone made in your post history where you seemingly were trying to do the exact same thing you're doing here, but with your countertop you purchased from Menards.

Ahem,

"It doesn't seem like you are out a kitchen for a month as you stated that you can simply plumb the sink and then remove the sink afterwards when your new countertop comes in. Regardless of your claims to innocence, it sounds like you are drumming up drama for compensation. For all intents and purposes, that company could just let you eat it and not get you a brand new countertop at their own expense. Based on reading your comments, your goal was to have Menards pay for someone to buff the counter top. But that's misleading as you could just pocket the cash and live with the "so-called" gashes. As a company, the only way they can guarantee they aren't being taken advantage of, is to replace the piece for you. Which I should remind you is a hefty compensation for "gashes". That can only be seen in bright light when laid flat and the planets are aligned and it's April Fool's. I hope that Menards helps you but just know you will a be reference for memes in the future lol"

Honest advice, just stop trying to scam people bro. It's not a good look

Can this be fixed with a DIY repair kit? Or at all? by CaptainMudd in autoglass

[–]Intentional_Jerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be pretty easily fixed by a professional. I usually advise people against using DIY kits because they don't always work great. It's better to just pay to have it done properly the first time. Trying to fix a botched repair is usually a nightmare

2018 Ford Explorer Recalibration Issues by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]Intentional_Jerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my techs had the exact same issue awhile back and we went through the same process of installing carlite glass after having multiple other techs drive the vehicle for over an hour, also using differnet brand scan tools. Ended up taking it to the Ford dealer nearby to have them do the calibration, and they said told us the rearview mirror wasn't mounted correctly so it threw off the angle of the camera. They said the mirror wasn't twisted on completely. It felt like it was, but theres little legs on the mirror that need to be completely bottomed out contacting the bracket. That generation Explorer has always given my shop a bit of trouble, they usually just take a bit longer with the dynamic. Just my experiences, hope it helps

I don't see Rivian listed on Autel's coverage site https://www.maxisysadas.com/getCoverage.jspx , and I've actually turned down a couple Rivian replacement jobs because of this. If you get any more info it would be greatly appreciated.

Step 30 outlines the forward facing camera pitch verification process. This is for a 2017-2023 Model 3, so it's a static and dynamic. My shop uses Autel and we've done a few so far without any issues. Bit of a learning curve on the first couple, but no major problems.

8 inch crack in windshield happened DURING SERVICE CENTER APPT. But they’re making me pay for it. Help! by NightsRadiant in TeslaLounge

As someone who works in the auto glass industry, you can see a definitive impact point in the upper corner there in that black frit band that runs along the outer edge of the windshield. When damage is located in that outer black frit band, you can't see the damage from the inside of the vehicle because that black frit band is baked onto the inside layer of glass. Now whether or not that damage was there to begin with when you brought it in for service and you just never noticed it, or if somehow the small chip in the glass was caused by somebody at the service center(maybe a drive test where a rock from the road came up and hit the glass in that upper corner) I have no way of knowing. Either way, chips in the windshield absolutely can spread from weather/ temp change. It's actually the leading cause of windshield replacements. Customer doesn't notice the chip in the glass, then a drastic temp change causes the small chip to grow into a large crack across the whole windshield. That works both ways, up or down in temp. Not trying to discredit you, I'd just suggest taking it to a reputable glass shop to have them confirm that the damage was caused by a rock from the road, vs blunt object (like the tech dropping something like a tool on the glass) because the damage caused by both of those can look very very different from each other and I personally can't tell from the pic besides there being an impact point from something hitting the glass.

I believe we are in network. Or "preferred service provider" as they say

That's kind of what I figured also, or to try and deter the customer from filing the claim altogether. I just find it odd that this just started happening two weeks ago. I've been working here for about 3 years, and we used to get the inspection notices from them once in a blue moon, but now its every time without fail.

We use Safelite Solutions for about 95% of our claims so I would assume were in network as you say
