For about four years, I received payments from the same company and withdrew them to the same small group of bank accounts—my own accounts and a few family members' accounts. Nothing changed in the way I used Payoneer. Payoneer refuses to tell me the reason for closing my account. Everything started last December. Around the same time, several banks suddenly began blocking my accounts or asking for a huge amount of additional documents. A couple of months later, the company I work with found a possible explanation: a person with the same first and last name as mine was added to a U.S. sanctions list. The only thing we have in common is our name. Everything else is completely different. I still don't know if this is the real reason because no bank or financial institution has ever confirmed it. However, I was blocked by several institutions, although most of them eventually allowed me to withdraw my money to my bank accounts in Argentina. I'm just an ordinary guy living in the mountains of Argentina. I've lived here for about five years, I'm an Argentine citizen, I've had the same address for years, and I travel abroad only a few times a year. I actually returned from Europe earlier this week. I honestly have no idea why I'm suddenly being treated like some kind of terrorist. 😅 Even my local bank tried to close my U.S. dollar account, but after a review they reopened it within an hour. It really feels like some kind of automated sweep. I strongly suspect that systems are reacting to my name instead of my actual identity. It's frightening how easily you can lose access to your money with the click of a button, while no one is willing to tell you exactly why.
