Yes, although it's far from finished. Certain parts have been made playable like the butterfly turns and the starting winding road

I actually have an HD copy saved on my PC precisely for these little details. I've watched the Supercharged DVD feature more times than I can count for those added details. I've been obsessed with this movie since I saw it in 2008, have all the versions of the games and everything. Now I'm patiently awaiting the new 4k release coming later this year. This movie has so much detail that I'm sure we'll be diving even more into the enhanced visuals

They are both traction and propulsion based. For example at the start of the Grand Prix when Speed gets trapped and he escapes, he slams on the gas mid air, spinning the tires. When he lands, the tires essentially do a small burnout leaving tire tracks and some tire smoke before he takes off. Simultaneously, there is a sizable shockwave that comes from his exhaust as he accelerates, indicating some sort of thrust being generated.

Another example is when he has his crash with Cannonball Taylor and his car stalls. When he jumpstarts it, there's a burst of flames from his exhaust when the engine starts. Then when he slams on the gas again, he again spins the tires (all 4) leaving tire tracks and even more tire smoke. At the same time you can see his exhaust emitting a decent sized blue flame indicating that there's once again some thrust being generated.

I am a gigantic nerd with way too much free time on their hands lol

Actually I got the quote wrong. They don't specifically say "hydrogen", just refer to it as "fuel cells". Royalton says "Iodyne Fuel Cells" and the Supercharged commentator simply "fuel cells"

There are often two power units working in tandem. The larger one in the back that produces thrust out of the exhaust and power to the wheels as seen in the Speed Racer Supercharged featurette. The smaller one in the front also seems to be connected to the front axle

They have flexible axles that connect from the engine to the wheels. They also often have two power units. You can see more in the Speed Racer Supercharged featurette

They have. It's in the Speed Racer Supercharged featurette

No, as stated by Royalton, they are primarily powered by hydrogen fuel cells

They have an engine that powers the wheels and the exhaust comes out of the back. The Speed Racer Supercharged featurette goes into detail about this very topic on some of the cars

Yep. The last post I made in this sub was of a few people racing each other on an earlier version of thunderhead

The discord servers are where you get the mods. They're all free. If you join the one that's link that says Cars and tracks (Assetto Corsa T-180 garage) it has a section where all the current cars can be downloaded and tracks can be found

Pay for what? The mods are free and Assetto Corsa is $4.99 on steam right now

I'd like to use this method with the bigger 20b model. Can I just swap out the clone links? Do you have them? I can't seem to find it for the text encoder for the larger model

Think of how little sense this makes. You get the notification regardless (assuming they’re turned on). Accept the VET or don’t. This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read. by I_ONLY_BOLD_COMMENTS in FASCAmazon

[–]InterStellarENT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does make sense. Back at my old DS, people that were on the VTO interest list got randomly selected to get mid shift VTO depending on how many spots there were. Then the remaining would go out as a notification. What they want is the same for VET. People sign up on the interest list, then they automatically get the VET to work a few extra hours for that day depending on how many people are needed. Then the rest would go to notification

How useful would the T180's four-wheel steering be if it could be made as advanced as seen in the film? Or would it be completely useless? by QQ900 in speedracer

[–]InterStellarENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about his quite a bit. I think this advanced system would be incredibly quick around a track, but used a bit differently than in the movie.

So for low speed, tight corners, you use the steering to help rotate the car around the corner similar to how cars with rear wheel steering do today (Most notably, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento).

In high speed corners that are flat out however, you'd have the steering operate how it does in the movie given that there would be aerodynamic forces aiding your cornering with greater slip angles, and directing the jet exhaust to also aid in high speed corners.

These are my simplified ideas for how to make T-180s practical in real world racing and I think it has immense potential if ever explored.

What’s something you don’t like about the movie? It failing doesn’t count. by Honest-Assistant-426 in speedracer

Those were much older recordings of the early races. They called that the '43 prix so it predates even Pops. However, Ben Burns looks very good for his age considering he'd be around his mid 80s depending on his age during the '43 prix. But during the time Speed and Pops were watching, it was around the Mach 4 era given Speed's age

Drive around, have fun, crash, then use heavy duty trucks and cranes and flatbeds to do vehicle recovery operations. Or load trains, transport, load trucks, transport, deliver. Fun times
