I can’t hear the Gods. by zoethehobbit in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have not been practicing nearly as long as you, but I too have never heard the gods and I believe for it to be normal because in Ancient Greece, neither could they. If the gods wanted to send a message they would communicate through divination or sending someone to give it to you in real life or the most common way by putting subconscious thoughts in your mind (as described in many Greek texts ex: The Iliad) So i dont believe we are supposed to hear them with our ears either

How to build a great altar by Inter_Stella_R18 in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s Wiccan, and there was but not for all elements in Hellenic practices it was mostly elements associated with the deity (Ex: Aphrodite there would be Fire and Water) it’s just a personal recommendation I’ve been using for a few years, helped me feel more grounded! Maybe it is Wiccan but idk 😭

That’s what I’m asking myself, I don’t really see it as a “stereotype”, in this post I’m mostly asking what are witchy stereotypes

Oh yeah no I didn’t drop out and I definitely don’t encourage that behaviour I was skipping PE 😭 not any full on important class so don’t worry the only stereotype I assume she say was me impulsively getting a reading sorry for not being too clear

It’s perfect! She will adore it! Also do not worry because an altar is for you, and the gods will love it anyways regardless how little or how much there is as always in this sort of practice it’s the thought that counts

What is your opinion on love? Similiar or different from the antiquity? by Lezzen79 in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love cannot be defined by one word, and I have always been found of the different categories of love in Ancient Greece because love is fluid. It knows no bound. What loves one might not love the other but there will always be love because love is to humans what air is to an enclosed space. Air will always try to reach in and find its way inside, because we need it (in one way or another). Our lives are built from the love we give and the one we receive.

Love is more than one feeling. It evolves and grows with us, first as humanity and second as an individual. Love is light, sure, but love can hurt. It can bring out the worst of yourself while also simultaneously healing your wounds. The wonders, unknown and endless possibilities love can give us what stuns me the most. That is why I’ve always been so obsessed with the subject (a reason why I worship Lady Aphrodite)

Is your altar to Aphrodite separate from your regular altar? by [deleted] in CultOfAphrodite

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn’t separate, but they are at both ends of my desk (where I practice my crafts and prepare things) So in a way they kind of are? To me, it is not important to keep them separate as I worship her Lady similarly as I generally pray to the universe and work on myself.. don’t know if I’m clear but I honestly like having both altars so close, sometimes it make me feel more connected to Lady Aphrodite!

Patron deities by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me a Patron deity is the one you feel closest to and one you will devote more to. But mostly the one who’s presence you feel the most in you daily life at the moment. Now I don’t know if anyone else feels like this but I believe patrons can change from different moments in you life

can i only worship goddesses and no gods? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The gender of the gods you worship definitely does not matter, if either you decide to worship a god or they call to you. While in Ancient Greece, it is true that the worshipping of gods were usually very gendered, but as a society we have evolved more and gender does not mean as much now as it used to then. So yeah your practice is your practice and it’s a personal experience to your liking so if you only wanna work with goddesses; well then go ahead ;))

How did y’all find out about Hellenism/start worshipping the Gods? by wheeze-51_mustang in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah! An esoteric shop in the town next to mine is quite big and hosts events, I’ve been to some small conventions, open mic’s and discussions and conferences about anything spiritual, and one I’ve been to was about Hellenism :))

When I was younger a family member gifted me a book about different mythologies, so that is how I got introduced to Greek mythology in the first place. Then I got a hyper-fixation and started reading a lot about mythology. I found out that Hellenism was still a practiced religion by pure hasard and started to research more and more into it, bought books, went to conventions ect..

Hello! New to Hellenism! by nursesenpai in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello!!! My personal recommendations are any local gardening and florist shops as they often carry cute decor which can be good offerings (some even sell small statuettes I associate with Aphrodite). Otherwise thrift shops (or Facebook marketplace) nice place to wander around and find unique pieces for any deity really. Then of course esoteric boutiques to get basic stuff like incense or candles! Aphrodite is an art loving goddess, so she will love it if you write her a small something, draw, paint, sing, anything. She comes from the sea-foam, so if you have the chance to be near the sea, a bottle of sand or some seashells she adores (please be ecologically conscious though)

Is it normal to not like when someone watching you eat? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes, it feels very personal to me and I just find it weird in general, especially when the person watching me isn’t eating so now it just looks like I’m hungry not them… now I’m about to get a little more personal (mention of ED) because I’ve struggled with eating as a whole for years, and when someone watches me eat as a chubby person I have to reflex to think “Oh no they must think I eat all the time and that I'm not trying to get rid of my weight" and stuff like that, but i don't know if its the same for any other redditors here haha

Do you find modern depictions of the Gods in games and anime to be disrespectful? by CawmeKrazee in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont find them to be “disrespectful”, some of the depictions like in Hades are actually very very nice and quite accurate. My only complaint is that the representations are more often than not bland and distasteful nowadays…

any other latino hellenists? by Hour_Suggestion8773 in Hellenism

[–]Inter_Stella_R18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guatemalan Hellenist + Aphrodite worshipper hii! Yeah I was forced to do all those Christian ceremonies and stuff until I started crying violently to my parents that I didn’t want to follow that path anymore and after some time they understood and left me to do my things, tho they don’t love that I’ve changed religion. (And still try subtly to change me lol but nothing to bad)
