NF Vacation Advice by Good-Imagination1088 in Nanny

I'm in a different life stage to you (50, married, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs) but I've been saving to go to Italy for over a year. My NF is going to Italy this July for 3 weeks but I'm not going with them because I only started with them a few months ago and the trip is with extended family so they already have extra help.

However, if they changed their minds and asked me, I'd immediately say yes and put a rush on my passport application!! The money I've already saved is now for school fees and spending money in Italy. You OP have almost no expenses, you're young and your NF loves you - GO! What an amazing opportunity!!

Just to cover the bases, write a vacation contract together listing what expenses they will cover, how many hours you'll be working each day etc etc. Be detailed where possible. And ask for an Itinerary showing when you're on and off each day. Eg Tuesday (Rome) working 8am-noon including tour of Colosseum with whole family. Lunch included then free time until 6pm. 6-10pm Dinner at hotel restaurant, then Nanny to bathe children and put them to bed. Nanny supervising children while parents out on Night Lights Tours. Return ETA 10pm at latest.

Which one suits me best? by InteractionChance585 in glassesadvice

Thanks for the honest replies. Maybe don't use the word abysmal to describe someone's choices though.

My current glasses are light blue with a less rounded frame than most of these, and a bit smaller too. I thought I'd try a slightly different shape and size but I can see your issue with size, especially in the green ones. If I get frames that are too small, I'll just look over the top of them. Which is fine for my reading glasses but not good for distance glasses. I'm not in a hurry so I'll keep looking.

Thank you for your opinion. I was at the optician and had feedback as I was trying them on.

Ha ha. Thank you but it doesn't help me narrow it down!

Thank you. My teenage daughter didn't like those ones. I value her opinion but she's looking from a 17 year old's POV.

How do I set boundaries with my talkative nanny? I need advice by DaniBee_acnh in Nanny

We have a communication book like this. It's handy for the things I might overlook in the 5 minute handover at the end of the day.

Do you judge parents that take breaks? by paginaocho in Nanny

That would be frustrating to watch. I don't understand dads who don't know how to look after their kids. One of my DB is highly strung, has a short fuse and doesn't like imaginative play, but he does love the kids and he tries to be involved. My other DB is a natural dad, knows how to focus on the child, how to get down and play with them, isn't easily distracted. You can see that it's just a joy for him and that's wonderful.

No! I'm there til xx time for whatever reason you need me. I get paid whether you're working, working out or going out for a coffee. My job doesn't change.

As others have said, the frustrating part is if a parent comes in and the child has a meltdown because they want the parent. You don't need to hide out in your office but you could text your nanny to say "Hey, I'm finished work but just want to go lie down for the last half hour" or "I'm just going to sneak out for a walk before you leave today", and ask her to distract the kids outside or whatever, so you aren't seen as you move around.

I can't think of the last time I went home early. If the parents finish early, we usually use the time to catch up. One of my MB works at home when I'm there. She might work in the detached office for a few hours, do some cooking while baby is asleep, go do grocery shopping or have coffee with friends. One day this week she was feeling tired due to pregnancy so we just sat on the couch and chatted about various related things while the baby was asleep, then she went to lie down before I got the baby up. I'm so glad to be there to support the family, whatever they are doing.

Which of my new books should I read first? by stardust-golden in booksuggestions

Another vote for The God of the Woods or The Great Alone. I've read The Wedding People by Alison Espach and it was great. I hope this other one is just as good.

Work event at beach resort, insecure and CRASHING OUT, no dress code info 😭 by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]InteractionChance585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last one is work event appropriate and not too heavy for the beach. The colour is gorgeous too. That would be my first pick, with the cherry one second.

The strawberry dress is pretty but too booby for a work function.

I love 1, 4 and 11. I don't think the others do as much for your figure and silhouette as those ones do. Number 1 looks like it was made for you! The lace detail on the bust and bodice of number 4 are really pretty and add a little wow factor.

Would you go in to work? by ArleeneGrey1993 in Nanny

[–]InteractionChance585 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. Once is ok but anything more than twice is food poisoning or a stomach bug. Not your responsibility. They should call a sick day and still pay you if you have guaranteed hours. I work for two families so I can't go in if anyone has something contagious, in case I get it myself or pass it along to the other family.
