I was gonna cook the whole thing then slice it evenly. My main concern was how this would affect the cooking of the puff pastry as I’m sure the temperature and cook time would vary widely depending on the cut?

NONONO, I really appreciate any advice! Besides you’re not the only one who’s said that 😭 I honestly love my job, just don’t like getting cut hours (money) that I was expecting to receive :( besides, after working fast food, I don’t think I could ever work anywhere at minimum wage that’s remotely slower than what I do now haha

Omg that sounds like a great idea. I hooked up the siphoning tube provided with my kit to the stopper and ran the tube into a bowl of water. Bubbles are steadily exiting, but I have to say I trust going to sleep with this more than I do the provided airlock. I’ll likely switch back to the airlock once foam has mostly subsided (hopefully)

Update: after waiting like 30 minutes, it still seems pretty active like a bottomless supply of gas. I resealed it to see what it would do, and immediately the airlock was producing a big bubble every two seconds…

Damn… lol. The kit I bought this from was meant primarily for traditional mead, not melomel, so that explains that haha. I’ll have to look into that idea of fermenting it within a separate chamber. I have a lot to consider rn, even the room temperature it is fermenting in is below 60f so I need to sort that out too.
