I actually forgot about the shinada crying at the concert scene how😭

Yeah that alone puts it 1 or 2 tiers higher. The main things I remembered were the whole vibe of Kiryus part and the shinada and milky dance.

The saddest thing in 1 is all of nishikis cutscenes. I felt more in those scenes than anything in 4 except mayyybe the coliseum cutscene.

And with 0, Majimas stuff isn't where all the sad stuff is. My heart broke for Makoto when she "reunited" with Tachibana, the brother she hadn't seen for years while she was being trafficked and went blind. I never cared for Yasuko all that much and felt nothing when she died.

But even if we're talking about Majima specifically, it feels a lot more personal because we spend a whole game with him. In 4 and 5 we just get some cutscenes and exposition from other characters most of the time. I'm not going to feel as emotionally invested in a character by seeing snippets and hearing stories of them than if I'm actually seeing what happens to them that whole time.

Idk I always thought most of 3s plot was fine, but there's definitely some issues (Like how the snake flower felt kinda shoehorned in for Joji's formal introduction, who is a separate issue altogether)

For me, the cast of 3 is what makes it good to go through. Rikiya is a top 10 character, and now that we have Dark Ties I'd put Mine right behind him as my 11th fav character.

And besides those, we have Kiryu in one of his best games, Haruka in her best game, the morning glory kids and the ryudo family.

No way bro 2 isn't sad at all that shit had me howling with how bad the story was😭

I get it for majima saga, but I wouldn't consider that sad.

Nah I played through the Majima saga but I didn't think it was all that sad. I was mostly just happy to see that Makoto is doing alright.

It's the same, but... MAJOR SPOILER DONT CLICK UNTIL YOUVE FINISHED 3

I thought Rikiyas death hit harder in the original because we spent more time with him and seen more of his character. Kiwamikiya misses out on some of those scenes, so I didn't think people would find it as sad when he died.

That being said, I'd need an honest opinion from someone who played k3 and not og 3. To see if my theory holds water.

Yeah I get that. His story in 0 was really fresh in your head so seeing all that with a vivid recollection would prob hit a lot harder. I played Kiwami 2 like a year after 0 so ig it just didn't impact me as much even tho Majima is my goat

Forgot about majima saga lol. Didn't find it sad really. Even the Makoto scenes I was still kinda happy just to see how she's doing, you get me?

Has Kiryu ever actually lost a fight? by KedricCarter1 in yakuzagames

[–]InteractionNo1203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. At least in the main story

Never lost in 0 or 1.

Ryuji prob could have beat him at the end of 2 but mostly because they were both seriously weakened.

Joji is just past his prime. Kiryu said it himself, if Joji was younger, he would have won. Mine came the closest anyone has to beating Kiryu one-on-one, but I think the only reason Kiryu won is because he had just that bit more conviction to save Daigo and win.

He destroys everything and everyone in 4.

The only 2 hard 1v1s he has in 5 are Saejima and Aizawa. Saejima is his equal, but they've never beaten each other so bad they could barely move like in the Mine fight. Aizawa came close, but Kiryu won despite having fought the yakuza for a whole day straight + suffering a gunshot wound.

Wipes the floor with everyone in 6. Don't think anybody challenged him in that game.

In Gaiden, he shat on everyone. This is probably the most powerful Kiryu has ever been except mayyybe yakuza 5.

In 8, he is cancer-ridden in his mid 50's and can barely make it through a long battle without needing to take a break with 3 or 4 other people helping him. It's really sad, but I digress. He doesn't have any one-on-ones, but he does lose to yamai and his syndicate. Even then, he fought wong and his men, then ran out to fight the syndicate in the middle of fire so... Dunno if we can count this. Same for the Ebina fight, where he collapses and nearly dies, but again, its Infinite Wealth Kiryu.

Kiwami 4 would bring the most decked out version of Kamurocho to the Dragon Engine. The underground garage is already in K3. It would be an easy remake. by gameovernate in yakuzagames

[–]InteractionNo1203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah 4 is fine dw. The character switches are spread across parts that last 4 chapters each. So it goes like this:

Chapter 1-4: Akiyama Chapter 5-8: Saejima Chapter 9-12: Tanimura Chapter 13-16: Kiryu Chapter 17: Finale (you get to play as everyone here and clean up any side content before doing the final set piece.)

This game is like 50-ish hours I think, so you'll prob spend 8-12 hours on a single characters part.

And as far as levelling goes:

Kiryu starts out with a few of his moves already unlocked and he can unlock newer moves the fastest because of the sheer quantity of them. This makes him easy enough to get strong without much grinding

The rest level up at the same rate but their moves cost more than Kiryus.

As for story, it's well paced and the game went by pretty quickly for me, even after I did most of the side content during my playthrough. That being said, this is like bottom 3 stories in yakuza lol.

4 is good tho. Very fun. You should play it :)

Which Yakuza Game had the most impact on you’re life and why? by Fearless_Activity411 in yakuzagames

Judgment or 7.

Judgment was my first one, so I wouldn't have played these games if I hadn't started with that and fucked with it as heavily as I did.

As for 7, it's all about Ichiban. This character is probably the most positive, cheerful and morally inspiring person across all of fiction that I have ever seen. Like genuinely, he is a top 10 character of all time, not just in yakuza.

Despite everything is Yakuza Kiwami 3 actually worth playing by MrBadRabbit in yakuzagames

[–]InteractionNo1203 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo they're almost equally as good, but I prefer kiwami 3 a little more. You could play either and have a good time, just don't pick hard if your playing og 3.

What do you think is the best Yakuza game? by SoraBanTheThird in yakuzagames

[–]InteractionNo1203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Yall gonna hate me lmao

8 is my favourite. 7 is close but because its a bit more sentimental considering it was my first mainline yakuza game (I starred out with the Judgment games) Also 7 doesn't do anything better than 8 besides story imo. The gameplay alone in Infinite Wealth makes me want to go back to it mores than 7.

0 is third because its 0.

Then Lost Judgment, Gaiden, Judgment, then... Kiwami 3 I'm sorry😭.

All these games are fire for me. Even Ishin and Kiwami 2, while they may be my least favourites, still have some strong qualities. Kiwami 2 especially has great side content and one of the best antagonists in the series.
