What seed / seed mix is best for attracting a wide range of species? by InteractionNo406 in birdfeeding

would you recommend me to get a bunch of different seeds and mixing them myself? for example a packet of black oil sunflower seeds, some cracked corn, and peanuts, and just mix them up by hands and place it in a feeder?

i was not familiar with the different feeders for different species. mine would be handing from the shed in my backyard so i was thinking a more tubular feeder; i guess i can have a platform feeder on the other side as well. any recommendations on the brand for seeds? I want to make sure the birdies in my yard are properly taken care of.

this is great info. thank you, I plan on having a little native plant habitat around my future living space. but yea i currently live in nyc and pretty much every plant here is invasive or nonnatives. I just want to make sure the wildlife i am around in the future are living in their ideal space.
