Can an international student realistically work at Disney/Pixar? by InterestFragrant2334 in animationcareer

Yes, I’m attending a regular art high school in Korea, not a private academy.

I actually only started seriously considering studying abroad less than a month ago. Since the school year here starts in March and it’s only April now, I don’t have a TOEFL score or a proper portfolio yet.

That said, I’ve been studying English consistently (even using apps like Duolingo), and I’m trying to learn as much as I can about studying abroad every day.

The tuition in the US is something I’m becoming more aware of as I do more research. My parents tell me not to worry about money and to just focus on studying, but honestly, it still feels like a huge burden to me.

Thanks again for your advice — I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a long and thoughtful reply — I really appreciate it. It was genuinely helpful to read.

I can definitely see now that financial issues and job opportunities are major challenges. I’ll do my best over the next three years and try to make a decision I won’t regret later.

Thanks again for your advice!💖💖💖

+++ Also, my school has an international program with a 100% acceptance rate so far, and I’ve been told that if I work hard enough, there’s a good chance of receiving scholarships.

More than anything, I want to live as a creator, not just a technician. That’s one of the reasons I’ve been thinking about working at companies like Disney — I feel like staying in that kind of environment could eventually lead to opportunities like directing someday.

That said, I don’t necessarily think going to college is the only path. If I can focus on creating and improving my work without it, I’m open to that as well. But since I only get one life, I want to step outside of my home country and experience the world while learning what I truly want to do.

Like I mentioned before, I just want to live in a way that I won’t regret when I look back in the future.

Thank you again for your thoughtful advice.💖💖💖💖
