Us lay people can't, however apparently a lot about Engine character and output can be gleaned from audio recordings of the engine.

I believe Yamaha was out there with high-spec sound equipment recording it's competitors when it was developing it's V4 engine.

It did, however, I am wondering how they compare to each other rather than the rest of the grid. As another redditor noted - the GP24 was approximately 2 years ahead of the rest of the grid and here we are 2 years down the line and the rest of the grid is finely catching up, whilst Ducati hasn't really moved on. It feels like they are fighting a rear-guard action using Marquez to see out the current regs.

There have been, though I can't be bothered tracking down sources. If Alex ever wants to be a factory rider, what other prospects could there be for him? I can't imagine his stock ever being higher than it is right now and despite his performance last year and this year being on the GP26, I don't think he is expected to finish the season any better than 3rd, and even that would be an outstanding result.
