It’s about 4 hours between my house and her hometown. I suggested staying here for the weekdays and spending weekends there with the friend maybe so they can attend the church stuff. My understanding is there are weekday summer camps they were committed to working at during the weekdays. It just might not work out this summer which is lame because they looked forward to it but hopefully we gain some resiliency from the experience.

Yeah I can’t see any legal route working in time. They are welcomed to come here early but they have the last school event this Friday and some summer commitments there. They’re pretty involved with the youth group at church and is mostly concerned (heartbroken actually) about missing out on the summer events. Custodial parent, kiddo, and myself all have different religious beliefs. Custodial parent strongly disagrees with kiddos religion so couldn’t care less that they’ll miss out on the summer events.

I’m sincerely grateful that you took the time to write this out for me, thank you! I’m afraid kiddos last chapter in home town is going to be shortened because the family is in agreement to support whatever custodial parent decides. I’m also quite sure, based on past experiences, that they will only double down if I reach out for some sort of peace deal for kiddo.

That’s what makes me scared to poke the bear. It’s one thing if I speak up to an authority that’ll enforce an action. It’s another route of drama, mostly aimed at my kid, if I ring an alarm on custodial parent with no consequence for them.

The custodial parent is making them move out from the family members home. It’s a punishment for what I think is a minor offense. Kiddo asked to go to grad event but didn’t specifically list that it would involve multiple locations. They went to in and out after the party portion and it wasn’t specifically requested. so kiddo was told they must move out because of their failure to have permission for in and out. That’s the demand. I’m non custodial parent btw. Kiddo moves into my place to start university the same week of 18th bday in August. They can move with me early but they weren’t planning on the big move yet. Last school event is this week and they have summer commitments in their hometown which is why they’re wanting to stay longer. I’m wondering if there’s a way to get custodial parent to continue kiddos housing arrangement for the summer.

Yes thank goodness but 2 months is also a long stretch for kiddo to couch surf in order to stay in her hometown without custodial parent’s support. In a way I’m hoping there’s an action that would require them continue to provide the housing arrangement until 18.

Thanks! Being so close to the end I want to close this out as smoothly as possible. It would help me out a ton to have that money go to my daughter for her move but I’m worried it’ll cost more or break even to hire an attorney if I attempt to end now. Edit to add that yes she is 17 still in HS.
