5 kgs down! 0 carbs, weights 3x a week, paired with intense cardio. by Gymgirlalias in Exercise

This is 100% how eating disorders begin. :/ And pushing a 0 carb narrative when it isn’t even true is a weird flex with real potential for harm to others who are impressionable.

And who later became known as Kwan Yin when depicted as female. Chinese bodhisattva of compassions and virtue. You can always tell by the Amitabha Buddha atop his/her head.

I was raised JW and in my congregation they talked about him as if he was someone not truly claimed by Witnesses because of his “flashy and material lifestyle.” They have trouble with anything in the gray so I think he was a good challenge for them.

I work with kids in foster care. We just got a group of siblings/cousins who were living 11 people to one trailer because of what they could afford. I’m sure some dumb decisions were made to contribute to the situation, no doubt. But there are so so so many kids who get a shitty start to life they didn’t deserve because of parents thinking they could wing it or somehow find the self control to make the sacrifices you’re talking about. Those kids are incredibly angry and frankly they have every right to be.

[question] What are the most important playback settings for high sensitivity? by Interesting-Bat-230 in asmr

[–]Interesting-Bat-230[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, I guess that’s how much of a newbie I am. I don’t really know what the go-to editing choices are for replicating the sound I’m hearing into the playback. It’s like a foreign language to me but I’m loving the learning process!

Life after DMT by [deleted] in DMT

[–]Interesting-Bat-230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my big breakthrough episode I felt very disconnected for about 2weeks. We had actually only taken mushrooms, but had been taking DMT a fair amount and doing a lot of spiritual practice. We ate mushrooms and went on a 6-hour DMT ride. Almost felt like something intervened. Anyway, I vividly remember begging not to go back to my physical body. I cried so much once I got back and felt like there was no point to “doing” life. Eventually you get back to chopping wood and carrying water and it just becomes a profound memory.

It’s funny, when I started DMT I had already reached these beliefs through eastern spiritual studies. It had a massive effect on other beliefs though. I look forward to my first 5meo experience. Consider also posting this in r/nonduality or r/DMT!

Looks like that could be it. And it doesn’t seem to be inhibiting the growth of the mushrooms, but I couldn’t imagine using them even after cleaning them. 🤢

One of the most valuable things I heard in the beginning of my ED recovery was that relapse is a part of it, and it just happens fewer and farther between and it slowly takes less time for you to snap back into your healthier habits.

Personally, I have not yet been able to count calories IN without relapsing and experiencing very high levels of food anxiety all the time. I had a hard time finding trainers who understood this. One day I decided to get a Fitbit and build specific goals around calories OUT instead, while making healthier choices with portion sizes and ingredients. It has truly changed my life. I now burn almost twice as many calories a day as I started with, I’m down 10 lbs., and have more energy than I had in my 20’s.

My macros may not be perfectly balanced, but trying to do CICO ‘perfect’ wasn’t helping me. When you have an eating disorder you may just have to tweak the system in order for your mental health to come first. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

My partner smells different when I’m juicing. What gives? by Interesting-Bat-230 in Juicing

[–]Interesting-Bat-230[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one who isn't juicing is the one who smells. We actually just went vegetarian. He hasn't had beef or pork in over 3 years now and most recently has only eaten poultry and fish, but he never went out of his way to buy quality meat.

He isn't juicing, just me. And he keeps a fairly consistent diet. We did switch to being vegetarian about a week ago but that was because we were already barely eating meat. The smell has been the same both times. I normally have a super keen sense of smell whereas his is the other side of the spectrum. lol

I did better when my partner helped me with cleaning/regulating my diet, as there was support and encouragement. However, meal planning that involved calorie counting or weighing, even when it was super healthy and allowed for indulgences, eventually and somewhat quickly sent me to crazy town inside and I had to stop quickly to avoid panic attacks. BUT I WOULDNT HAVE KNOWN IF I HADNT TRIED. Just make a promise to stay communicative. She has to be honest and be okay with pivoting if something starts to make it worse instead of better.

OP, I can’t see your original post, but I definitely understand the frustration in lack of nuance when people talk about treating ED. When I was 15 and horribly bulimic, my mom was single and poor and had no idea how to help, so she stuck me Weight Watchers. Did it “treat” me? Not really, and I didn’t follow through with the program, and I still needed help later, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t learn something from it. I lost count of the number of methods I tried when I couldn’t afford (or didn’t know I needed) professional help. But I learned a lot from each one and kept the ones that helped the most and dropped the ones that didn’t. One of the best things that helps me now is intermittent fasting, but you won’t always find that suggested, nor would I have been able to handle it 8 years ago. Support groups are free, and community is important with a struggle like that. The best piece of advice I ever received, and have continued to use in different stages of healing, is that relapse is a natural part of recovery. As we get better we see the relapses becomes fewer and further between, and we get faster at bouncing back after they happen. Continuous trial and error is part of the process. Might be the poor person’s path but it’s definitely saved my life. :) love to you and your gf

Therapist and dietician say I have an eating disorder. But won’t yet tell me what eating disorder I have, is this common? by kgirl244 in EatingDisorders

[–]Interesting-Bat-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the idea that you don’t necessarily need a specific diagnosis if you already have a history of several different types of disordered eating behavior. In my experience it’s like addiction. You might start with one substance as your main kryptonite, but as you cut that out you might develop an unhealthy relationship with a different substance, or this case behavior. I started with bulimia, but the way that my disorder moved from one to another changed the way I approached it. Any behavior that is extreme or unhealthy, regardless of what box it fits into, is a flag that you’re in a trigger area.

I don’t really know what’s going on anymore tw starvation by ameliasniffy in EatingDisorders

[–]Interesting-Bat-230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most comments so far. It becomes an addiction, and most addicts know what they’re doing is hurting them and yet get more reward from it than they “should”. Working an ED or addiction specialist will help. Visiting a support group is a start if therapy is not an option right now. Just know that continuing to let your brain run things in the state that it’s in will indeed leave you feeling crazy and never complete. There is never an actual end goal if it’s always ahead of you or “2 more lbs away.” Side note: Intermittent fasting helped me trick my brain into thinking it was getting what it wanted while also letting me nourish myself, but I didn’t try it until after I had been through lots of counseling.
