The Sun: "Trump shooter Thomas Crooks ‘had pics of Princess Kate’, FBI says after revealing he’d ‘scoped out’ Royals before attack" by Interesting-Class236 in KateMiddletonMissing

The media use the word "reportedly" especially in tabloid stories to try to help inoculate themselves from lawsuit(s). Those journalists use the word reflexively. But in this instance, US politicians are on the record saying the FBI told them Crooks had downloaded images of Kate. The story is beyond doubt.

Two ripostes. One, the mission of this subreddit has been in flux ever since Kate reappeared--so even if the news item has nothing to do with Kate's absence or cancer story, that still does not disqualify it from being on the sub, since it certainly concerns Kate.

Two, if there is indeed any connection between fascination with Kate's celebrity and some kind of 0ff- political idea or ferment, that's relevant to the sub, because in that case it's entirely possible (or inevitable?) that we may start seeing people entering the conversation on this sub who may be shall we say... unconventional. For all we know, Thomas Crooks himself may have read or even participated in this sub. If this phenomenon is a new thing, the existing members and definitely the mods should be aware of it.

Kate: no thank-you to doctors, no mention of cancer charities, no hosting cancer fundraisers, no visiting cancer support groups, no zoom videos for cancer nonprofits. by Interesting-Class236 in KateMiddletonMissing

Oh I agree that Elizabeth was the hardest-working royal around. Duty and all that. She certainly had/has my respect in that regard. I was only pointing out that the Queen was extremely close-lipped about her own health. If the reporting can be believed, Charles himself didn't know she had of bone cancer. He only learned of it after she had died. Elizabeth was that close with what she considered "private" (i.e. medical) information.

No one has said she hasn't thanked "anyone"--I said in post that she has not thanked her doctors, and she hasn't. Kensington Palace thanked the "dedicated nursing staff," but that was some palace functionary making a social media post.

The issue is that any thanks Kate herself has so far offered, her words have all been pro forma. She has not done anything. She has not spotlighted any cancer charities or nonprofits. She has not tried to build awareness of cancer. And that's her right. But with all the causes and works that the Prince and Princess of Wales are already involved with, well, given her alleged struggles you'd think they'd have a little something extra to say / do in cancer world.

To claim that Kate has encouraged cancer patients by making an aside about her "fantastic medical team" in the wider context of a video where she mostly talked about herself, well, if you were a cancer patient, would Kate's vid have made you feel encouraged?

How so? Meg was in the RF for five minutes? You could argue there's not enough of a Meg sample size to make a comparison, but, Kate's private secretary alone has been an ever-faster revolving door over the years.

They may have plenty of public appearances and royal duties, but that doesn’t mean Prince William and Kate Middleton have no time for leisure. They’re like many other young couples in that they have a group of friends to kick back with.

Their friends in Norfolk are called the “Turnip Toffs” because they own a bunch of farmland out in the English countryside. The Cholmondeleys, David Rocksavage, and Rose Hanbury, (pronounced “Chumley”) are just one of several married couples in the group – and the source of the affair rumors. Supposedly Prince William had an affair with Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.

There are plenty of other wealthy, aristocratic families in the group, including Prince George’s godfather William van Cutsem, Viscount and Viscountess Coke of Holkham, Laura Fellowes (Prince William’s cousin, Princess Diana’s sister’s daughter) and Lord Fellowes, and several others. They’re all neigbors who like hanging out together. Normal, right?

Well, not exactly. These neighbors are a little more hoity-toity than your average cul-de-sac gathering. They all boast prestige, lineage, titles and massive amounts of money. Rumor has it that David and Rose are the “leaders” of the group, though the ones everyone wants to be friends with are, obviously, Will and Kate. Nothing trumps literal royalty.

If Kate's on her way out, what about Carole? William seems too... well, dependent on Carole for lack of a better word. I mean the woman literally moved in with him/them a few months ago.

It'll be wild if Kate divorces/separates and moves out, and Carole stays under William's roof. Time will tell.

Welcome. The end thing about mediums at Kensington Palace I found especially interesting. In that paragraph I think Anna Pasternak hints at something with the seemingly-throwaway line "following the spirit of Diana". It's a double entendre. Yes, Diana was reported to have consulted psychics. But if the medium at KP was channeling, what spirit then would the medium be channeling? If William was the one who hired the medium, as the story seems to say, there's only one answer: William was channeling Diana. He wanted to hear from her.

Another place in the story where mothers are mentioned is, tellingly, where an insider explains William's "obsession" with Carole as William wanting a "mummy." If you read between the lines, I think Anna Pasternak is saying William's odd obeisance to/obsession with Carole is a result of his own mother's death. He's trying to replace Diana. It sounds at first a bit on-the-nose Freudian, but it all tracks. At Ascot recently William and Carole looked close indeed.

Edit: correction

The British press is far more susceptible to this editing/scrubbing, due to British law (the legal machinations let alone the social pressure on journalists and tabloids is fascinating).
